Objective:To determine the incidence and risk factors of acute kidney injury (AKI) in patients with multiple soft tissue contusion. Methods:Clinical data of513patients diagnosed as multiple soft tissue contusion in First Affiliated Hospital, Xinjiang Medical University form January2008to January2013were analyzed retorospectively. Patients’ demographics, clinical data and laboratory examinationns before and after multiple soft tissue contusion were collected. The incidence, clinical risk factors and hospital analysis was used to investigate the independent risk factors of AKI in these patients. Results:A total of513patients were enrolled in the study with an average age of31.30±15.62years old, and were in a male to female ratio of2.11:1. AKI occurred in74cases with an incidence rate of14.42%. There were no AKI occurred in patients with assault injuries and AKI were observed in27cases (36.5%) with car accident injuries and4cases (5.4%) with other injuries. AKI were observed in1case with damaged area<1%,10cases(13.6%) with damaged area around3-5%and19cases(25.7%) with damaged area>5%and between group comparisons showed significant differences(P<0.01). Incidence rate of AKI in patients with chronic kidney disease was significantly higher than patients without chronic kidney disease(54.5%vs20.3%, P<0.01).2patients with AKI died and the mortality rate was2.7%. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that age (OR=1.996), basic Scr(OR=0.976), basic eGFR(OR=0.964), blood k+(OR=2.117), myoglobin(OR=0.950) and damaged area(OR=1.811) were independent risk factors for occurrence of AKI in patients with multiple soft-tissue injury. Conclusions:Incidence of AKI are quite high in multiple soft tissue contusion. The age, basic Scr, basic eGFR, blood k+, myoglobin and damaged area were independent risk factors for occurrence of AKI in patients with multiple soft-tissue injury.
