ObjectiveBy evaluating the small splint for the treatment of distal radius fractures of the radial length shortening curative effect, to explore the influencing factors of radial shortening, radial shortening treatment to reduce the risk and provide a better treatment.MethodsCollected into standard emergency treatment of distal radius fracture patients treated by small splint general information, Measure the reduction of palmar tilt, radial ulnar deviation, length and review from time to time palmar tilt, ulnar deviation, radial length, calculating the value of radial shortening, shortening of the divided into group (4mm or higher) and the control group(<4mm), evaluate its therapeutic effects. Analysis of radial shortening patients with age, gender, osteoporosis, bone type, palmar tilt, radial ulnar deviation change.ResultsBetween January2013and December2013, collecting70cases of distal radius fractures by the treatment of small splint. The shortening group19cases, control group51cases, the excellent and good rate of treatment of distal radius fracture splint for72.9%; Gender, fracture type and change of ulnar deviation, was no statistically significant difference for the radial shortening. Age (60or higher), osteoporosis, comminuted fracture and palmar tilt change has significant difference (P<0.05).ConclusionSmall splint can prevent distal radius fracture risk of radial shortening. Old people, osteoporosis, comminuted fractures, palmar tilt changes in patients with high risk of radial shortening. In the treatment process, should consider these factors, and take relevant measures, can better prevent radial shortening.
