Clinical Study On The Therapy Of Acupoint Catgut Embedding Curing Of Postherpetic Neuralgia

ObjectiveThis study is the use of randomized controlled trials in clinical observation, comparing acupoint catgut embedding therapy with western medicine treatment of postherpetic neuralgia. In order to get more effective proof of clinical efficacy of acupoint catgut embedding therapy, we had recorded the level of substance P concentration in the blood plasma and life quality score before and after treatment.MethodsThe study has be collected63cases of PHN, those are confirmed in accordance with clinic diagnostic criteria and inclusion criteria of this study, those were in acupuncture and dermatology department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of TCM in March2013to February2014. The study subjects were randomly divided32cases into treatment group and31cases into control group. Treatment group were treated by acupoint catgut embedding therapy (once for14days), control gruop were orally taken carbamazepine tablets (0.1g a time, bid) and Vit B6tablets (50mg a time, qd). During the process, we has recorded assessment index of pain symptoms of two groups before and after the study. By radioimmunoassay, we has detect the level of substance P concentration in the blood plasma of two groups before and after treatment.ResultsThere were a total of63cases of this study, a total of fall off in3cases, actual completion in60cases. Two groups in age, sex, course of disease and general signs, VAS score, substance P concentration, elevation of life quality had no significant difference(P>0.05), two groups were comparable.Acupoint catgut embedding therapy (treatment group) and oral western medicine (control group) after the treatment of herpes zoster have pain, effectively relieve pain symptoms. After a course of treatment, comparison of VAS scores between two groups had obvious statistical significance difference (P<0.05). After treatment, the treatment group before and after treatment, substance P concentration has significant difference statistically significant (P<0.01); controlled way substance P concentration before and after the treatment, the difference have significant statistical significance (P<0.05). After treatment, before and after treatment between two groups of substance P concentration difference value comparison, has obvious statistical significance difference (P<0.05).Treatment group after treatment in the SF-36scale, general health and social function score comparison, the difference have statistical significant (P<0.05). The remainder term have significant difference statistical significant (P<0.01). The control group after treatment in the SF-36scale, body pain, social function and emotional function score comparison, the difference have statistical significant (P<0.05). There was no obvious difference about statistical significance (P>0.05). Before and after treatment between two groups of SF-36scale difference comparison, social function difference score comparison, there was no statistically significant difference (P>0.05). Physiological function, physiological function and general health, emotional score function difference comparison, statistical significance difference (P<0.05). More than difference score comparison, all have significant difference (P<0.01).The curative effect of two kinds of therapy in the treatment of PHN index and the total effective rate, with significant difference (P<0.01) in the treatment group curative effect is better than the control group. Treatment group has good safety and tolerability, the control group were susceptible to adverse reactions after taking the drugs, such as nausea, vomiting, dizziness, exfoliative dermatitis, etc.ConelusionAcupuncture point bury line therapy compared with western medicine therapy, can obviously relieve the pain of PHN, and shorten the duration of PHN and significantly improve the patients quality of life. At the same time, the safety and tolerability of acupuncture point bury line therapy, is superior to western medicine group. Through the detection of two groups of patients with PHN plasma levels of substance P concentration in the blood, and can be found that acupuncture point bury line therapy is significantly lower levels of substance P concentration in western medicine, thereby reducing pain stimulation from the peripheral nerve conduction of central nervous. Quality of life, according to the comparison points embedded wire can effectively relieve pain symptoms, and can improve the limited daily activities caused by the pain and the negative emotions, improve the patients’ mental health, so as to improve the life quality of patients.
