The Influence Factors On Hospitalization Expenses Of Single Disease In The First People’s Hospital Of Taicang

ObjectiveIn this paper, the author analysis the hospitalization expenses structure at the county hospital in the developed area (the first people’s Hospital of Taicang),and find out the influence factors and degree, the hospital medical expense proportion and effect strength, and put forward some suggestions on medical cost control measures.methodsBy the method of survey on the basic information of the5967patients medical records from2007-2011at Taicang first people’s Hospital, select5disease according to the international classification of diseases (ICD10) method. Basic information in the medical record home page as the basis, investigating the patient’s disease characteristics, social and economic characteristics, diagnosis and treatment quality indexes and proportion of hospitalization expenses, set up the database and proofreading in Excel basis on the all the data, descriptive analysis, single factor analysis and multiple regression analysis on five kinds of single diseases data by SPSS13.0statistical software, to investigate the effects of different factors control strategy on hospitalization expenses.ResultsMedicine fees accounted for the highest proportion in the hospitalization expenses of five kinds of single disease, followed by the operation fee. Among the social and economic characteristics, gender was statistically significant for hospitalization expenses of patients with chronic cholecystitis. The hospitalization expenses of male patients is higher than that of female patients, but it has no influence on several other diseases. The method of payment effects the hospitalization expenses of the patients with chronic cholecystitis, acute appendicitis, benign thyroid tumor patients and lumbar disc herniation. The cost of the patients with health insurance is higher than that of patients at their own expenses. Age influence the cost of the patients with chronic cholecystitis and acute appendicitis. And the cost increases with the age.Different kinds of the average hospitalization expenses varies with the age, gender, hospitalization days, payment methods, the proportion of drugs.Among them, days of hospitalization, the proportion of drugs, method of payment influence greatly.ConclusionHospitalization days, medicine fees is the main factor affecting the hospitalization expenses. Therefore, to reduce medical costs, we should control the proportion of medicine fees, reduce hospitalization days in clinical pathway, improve the health care security system, strengthen management, and guide reasonable medical consumption.
