Background:Pneumonia is becoming one of the serious threats to global human health.According to the world health organization (WHO) estimates that each year about1million children under the age of five died of pneumonia of world, which was one of themost main reason of death in children. The number of children died by pneumonia ismore than the number died of AIDS,measles and malaria combined. The worldpneumonia day is on November2,we should call for the world to pay attention to therisk of pneumonia, and reduce the mortality of pneumonia. In Asia, there were49children died of pneumonia each hour. The study during1996~2000showed thatpneumonia was the first cause of death in children under the age of five, much higherthan common causes, such as diarrhea and accidental asphyxia. As the changing ofenvironment and living standard, the risk of recurrent pneumonia is also increasing.Recurrent pneumonia bring big pressure to children and family,so the risk factors ofrecurrent pneumonia is particularly important. Objective: To study the risk factors for recurrent pneumonia in children withoutunderlying diseases during the last year(from October2012to October2013) in theSecond Hospital of Dalian Medical University. It wound play an important significancein early intervention and prevention of recurrent pneumonia in children. Methods:A case-control study was conducted in73children with recurrent pneumonia(case group) and73age-gender-and weight-matched children with pneumonia but norecurrent(control group) from the Second Hospital of Dalian Medical University(fromOctober2012to October2013), the children in both groups had no underlying diseases. The risk factors for recurrent pneumonia were analyzed by the Chi-Square testand the multivariate logistic regression model.Results:1、The Chi-Square analysis showed that the number of children, which have thehistories of allergy, asthma, lowered immunity and passive smoking in the case group,is62,48,52,53respectively.While,in control group,it is23,9,30,10respectively.Therefore,in the case group, the percetages of the children which have the histories ofallergy, asthma, lowered immunity and passive smoking, are higher than the controlgroup, which is statistically significant. And there was no statistical significance in thehistory of neutropenia, acidophil increased, preterm labor and mycoplasma infection.2、The multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that history of allergy, asthma, passive smoking were independent risk factors for recurrent pneumonia.Conclusion:1.Recurrent pneumonia was made by variety of factors.2.History of asthma, allergies, passive smoking were independent risk factors forrecurrent pneumonia.3.There was no significant difference between results of two group compared by thehistory of neutropenia, acidophil increased, preterm labor, lowered immunity and theproportion of mycoplasma infection.4.Comprehensive analysis, treatment for recurrent pneumonia clinically, can obtainbetter effect of treatment and prevention....
