Objective:To compare the clinical effects of double vertical locking compression plate and single locking compression plate for treatment of humerus shaft fracture. To explore a better way for the treatment of distal humerus shaft fracture. Methods:From November2009to September2012, a retrospectively analysis was introduced in45patients with distal humerus shaft fractures of the first affiliated hospital of Dalian Medical University,28male and17female, the youngest is19and the oldest is63,33on average. Traffic accident in19cases,20cases are fall from the height and tamp injury in6cases.45cases with distal humerus shaft fractures were divided into two groups,29cases were treated with single locking compression plate(group A),and16cases were treated with double vertical locking compression plate(group B). Patients were all followed up for12months after operation. Effectiveness, operation time, intra-operative bleeding, length of stay, healing time and complications were analyzed and compared retrospectively. The complications include radial nerve palsy, nonunion, shoulder and elbow joint dysfunction.Results:Of29cases of single locking compression plate(group A), the average duration of operations is95.0±10.2min, the average intra-operative bleeding is350±20.4ml,Of19cases of double vertical locking compression plate(group B), the average duration of operations is102.0±15.4min,the average intra-operative bleeding is380±40.6ml.The mentioned difference have no statistical sense (P>0.05). Of29cases of single locking compression plate(group A),, Of16cases of double vertical locking compression plate(group B),;The mentioned difference have no statistical sense(P>0.05). The length of stay and healing time have no statistical sense (P>0.05). After12months of follow-up, using Constant-Murley and Cassebaum efficacy assessment system in good to excellent yields contrast observation of clinical efficacy. Conclusions:According to a retrospectively analysis between single locking compression plate and double vertical locking compression plate for treatment of distal humerus shaft fracture. Both of the two groups have very good clinical effects in the operation. There are no difference in intra-operative bleeding, length of stay, the average duration of operations and the average healing time between the two groups. The group B follows the Bio-logical osteosynthesis principle in the operation, and is a better way of internal fixation could get good function, fewer complications and improve quality of life, in the treatment of distal humeral fractures.
