ObjectsThe Neuropsychology test was choosed to evaluate the cognitive impairment in thepatients with cerebellar damaged (such as cerebellar stroke, cerebellar tumor andcerebellitis), which will provide the basis of the cognitive pathogenesis of the cerebellum. And all of these will enrich and supply more clinical evidence for the cerebellum activitiesin the cognitive aspects.Methods1. To choose79patients have been diagnosed with cerebellum disease in thedepartments of neurology or neurosurgery in the Affiliated Hospital of Dali university andPeople’s Hospital of Dali Prefecture. From January2012to December2013. Who wereemployed as the experimental group. According to the nature of diseases, the experimentalgroup was divided into the Stroke group (53cases), the Tumor group (18cases) andCerebellitis group (8cases). Base on the lesion site, which were divided to the left side (42cases) or the right side (36cases) cerebellar hemisphere in the experimental group. At thesame time, we choosed30volunteers who has the similar age, gender, culture, professionas the control group. All of them are right handedness.2. In order to evaluate the level of cognition, Both the experiment group and controlgroup patients received eight pieces of Neuropsychology tests, including Mini Mental StateExamination (MMSE), Auditory verbal memory test (AVMT), Complex Figure Test (CFT),Stroop Color Words Test (SCWT), Trail Making Test (TMT), Symbol Digit Modalities Test(SDMT), Verbal Fluency Test (VFT), Boston Naming Tes (BNT). Results1.Independent-Samples T Test showed that the experimental group had the lowerscores in the Neuropsychology tests. Compared with the control group, there weresignificantly abnormal rate on cognitive scale in the experiment group (P<0.05).2.With One Way ANOVA analysis, we got that all of the experiment groups (strokegroup, tumor group and cerebellitis group) got lower scores and had more significantabnormal rate than the control group (P<0.05). The tumor group had the worest languagefunction than the other two groups (tumor and stroke)(P<0.05).3. With Independent-Samples T Test, the results of cognitive function between the leftand right hemisphere group, the left group has significantly different with the right groupin executive function(P<0.05). However, we didn’t find any significantly differencebetween these two groups in other Neuropsychology tests (P>0.05).ConclusionsThe cerebellar lesions overall cognitive function such as memory function, executivefunction, verbal functions are varying degrees of damage. It was confirmed that thecerebellum involved in higher cognitive functions. The nature of diseases impacts different cognitive function. Cerebellar tumorresponsible for the language disorder. The left side of cerebellar hemisphere associated with the executive function, whichsuggest that cognitive function are different between the left and the right cerebellarhemisphere.
