Object: we valued the effect, prognosis, and notings ofdecompressive surgery on patients of massive cerebellar infarction byretrospectively reviewing 14 cases hospitalized in 1st teachinghospital of JiLin University from 1997 to 2005. Methods: we observed14 massive cerebeller patients operated through decompression and/orventricle drainage and investigate the factors on the time ofoperation, prognosis and post-operation notings.Result: 1 , Theaverage age of the patients is 51.8 years old,and there is trends to bemore younger. (2) The surgery treatment is an important part of braininfarction.Significant possitive consequences can be obtained by usingoperation.(3)Whatever the surgery treatment is imposed, ventricledrainage or decompressive operation. (4) surgery therapy is benefitfor the massive cerebellar infarction on the redusing mortality, stemimpairment, and aftertreatment syndrome, like upper enterogastric tractbleeding. It is valuable for prognosis. Conclusion: The survival rate ofearly-surgery is aquired for improving the prognosis, reducing themotality, and prompting the quality of living.
