Ivestigation Of Notch4and Its Relationship To Development And Metastasis In Non-small-cell Lung Cancer

Objective: To explore Notch4and its Relationship to development andmetastasis in Non-Small-Cell Lung Cancer.Methods: We chose102cases of non-small cell lung cancer and40cases normallung tissue specimens by surgical resection in chest surgery department of DaLianCentral Hospital during Dec,2010to Dec,2013. All the cases were proved bypathological diagnosis after opertation. According to the International Association forStudy of Lung cancer in2009, the seventh edition of staging criteria, the non-smallcell lung cancer group was divided into four groups,they areⅠperiod(n=52),Ⅱperiod (n=21) and Ⅲ period (n=29); According to the histologic types, thenon-small cell lung cancer group was divided into three groups, they are squamouscarcinoma (n=35), adenocarcinoma (n=42) and adenosquamous carcinoma (n=25);According to the tumor size, the non-small cell lung cancer group was divided intothree groups:tumor＜3cm (n=53), tumor≥3cm but＜5cm (n=30),tumor≥5cm(n=19); According to the lymph nodes metastasis, the non-small cell lung cancergroup was divided into two groups which were the lymph nodes metastasis (n=43)and the non-lymph node metastasis (n=59)；The non-small cell lung cancer group wasfurther divided into two groups which were＜60years old group (n=39) and≥60years old group (n=63); According to the gender, the non-small cell lung cancer groupwas divided into male group (n=57)and female group (n=45); The non-small cell lungcancer group was further divided into two groups which were the smoking group(n=42) and the non-smoking group (n=60). The expression of Notch4was examinedby immunohistochemistry. All data was analyzed by SPSS13.0statistical analysis software, P<0.05was considered statistically significant.Results:1. The positive expression rate of Notch4in NSCLC tissues wassignificantly higher than that in normal lung tissues (P <0.05).2. In NSCLC patients, the positive expression rate of Notch4in Ⅲ、Ⅱperiods was significantly higher than that inⅠperiod (P <0.05). the positiveexpression rate of Notch4in the Ⅲperiod was high than Ⅱ period, but there wassignificant difference between them (P <0.05).3. In NSCLC patients, the positive expression rate of Notch4inadenosquamous carcinoma groups was high than that in squamous carcinoma andadenocarcinoma groups, and that in squamous carcinoma group was also high thanadenocarcinoma group, but there were no significant difference between them (P>0.05).4. In NSCLC patients, the positive expression rate of Notch4intumor≥5cm and tumor≥3cm but＜5cm groups were significantly higher than that intumor＜3cm group (P <0.05). The positive expression rate of Notch4in≥5cm groupwas high than≥3cm but＜5cm group, there was significant difference (P <0.05).5. In NSCLC patients, the positive expression rate of Notch4wassignificant difference between the lymph nodes metastasis group and the non-lymphnode metastasis group (P <0.05).6.In NSCLC patients, the positive expression rate of Notch4was nosignificant difference between＜60years old group and≥60years old group (P>0.05).7. In NSCLC patients, the positive expression rate of Notch4was nosignificant difference between male group (n=57)and female group (P>0.05).8. In NSCLC patients, the positive expression rate of Notch4was nosignificant difference between the smoking group and the non-smoking group (P>0.05). Conclusion：There is a close connection between Notch4and the developmentand metastasis of NSCLC, which means Notch4may be offer a new direction for thetargeted treatment of NSCLC.
