Oral cancer refers to malignant tumor which occurs around the oral and adjacentanatomic structure. In the latest version of WHO’s international classification ofdiseases system, oral cancer and cancer occurs in the pharynx are classified as a class,called oral and pharyngeal cancer or, to simplify, oral cancer. the diseased partsincluding the lip, tongue, other parts of the tongue, gums, buccal bottom, palatal, jawand other parts of oral cavity, parotid gland, other major salivary gland, tonsil,nasopharynx, oropharynx, hypopharynx pyriform sinus, oral, other parts ofpharyngeal. The pathogenesis of oral and maxillofacial malignant tumor in recentyears is considered as multifactorial and multi pathogenic conditions. Pathogenicfactors which have been widely reported or popular received are roughly emphasizedas: tobacco, too much alcohol, radiation and long-term stimulation in oral mucosa.Recent years, there are increasing researches focus on the genetic and viral infectionarea of oral and maxillofacial malignant tumor. Mostly have proved the prevalence ofage appear younger trend, and the percentage of female patients gradually increased.Oral and maxillofacial malignant tumor, especially oral cancer and oropharyngealcancer, is easily associated with cervical lymph node metastasis or other body organstransfer.Current researches on second primary or multiple primary oral maxillofacialtumor malignant increase gradually. More and more clinicians have now notice thepresence of two primary tumor, since there is a certain degree of difficulty in curingsecond primary tumor. With the development of modern medical technology, theincreased accuracy of diagnosis of oral and maxillofacial malignant tumors provides areliable technical support. At present the treatment of oral and maxillofacial malignanttumor is mainly through surgical operation, auxiliary by postoperative radiotherapymachine operation before or after chemical treatment. According to the statisticalanalysis of the epidemiological data of oral cancer patients in the First AffiliatedHospital of Fujian Medical University between2009-2013, the results show, theepidemiological data of oral cancer patients in our department is roughly consistentwith relevant researches that published. For example,71.3%oral cancer samplesshowed squamous cell carcinoma after operation, the ratio of elderly patients (age above55) is62.22%,which constitutes the major part of oral cancer patients, and thesex ratio (male62.96%, female37.04%) remains at the same level as other papershave implied. All these clinical data suggest currently proportion changes of oralcancer, and the situation among oral cancer patients in Fujian province.
