Objective: In recent years, reported that OLFM4and CD expressed abnormallyin some tumors, and participated in the process of tumor invasion and metastasis, etc. The objective of this study is to investigate the expression and the significance ofthe two protein in colorectal cancer tissues, to preliminarily explore the possiblecorrelation between OLFM4and CD.Methods: We choose40cases of colorectal cancer tissues as experimental group,30cases of normal colorectal tissues that more than10cm away from the tumor edgeas control group. The expression of OLFM4and CD in the experimental group andthe control group was detected by immunohistochemical Envision two-stepmethod.The differential expression of OLFM4and CD in cancer tissues and normaltissues, the respective relationship between the two proteins with clinicopathologicalparameters of colorectal cancer, and the correlation between OLFM4and CD incolorectal cancer tissues were analyzed by using statistical methods. Results: In colorectal cancer tissues, the positive expression rate of OLFM4was95%(38/40),in normal colorectal tissues, the positive expression rate of OLFM4was43.3%(13/30), all of13positive cases were weak positive, there were notany moderate positive and strong positive expression cases, the difference hadstatistically significant(p<0.001).In colorectal cancer tissues, the positive expressionrate of CD was92.5%(37/40),in normal colorectal tissues, the positive expression rateof CD was16.7%(5/30), all of5positive cases were weak positive, there were notany moderate positive and strong positive expression cases, the difference hadstatistically significant(p<0.001). The expression level of OLFM4and CD had nosignificant differences in comparison between the pairs of colorectal cancer tissues ofPatients who had different gender, age, tumor size, differentiated degree, depth of tumorinvasion, status of lymph node and distant metastasis and staging. Both of which hadno obvious correlation with all the clinical-pathological parameters(p>0.05). In40cases of colorectal cancer tissues, Spearman correlation analysis showed that OLFM4 and CD expression in colorectal cancer tissues was positive correlation (r=0.435, P=0.435).Conclusions: The expression of OLFM4and CD in colorectal cancer tissueswas significantly higher than in normal tissue, both of which played an important rolein the biological behavior of colorectal cancer, the two proteins may be a potentialdiagnostic marker of colorectal cancer. Between the expression of OLFM4and CD incolorectal cancer tissues existed statistical correlation, there may be a interactionbetween the two proteins during the process of the tumorigenesis and development ofcolorectal cancer.
