Objective: To investigate expression of apolipoprotein A-1, apolipo-protein C-Ⅲ and apolipoprotein E in small cell lung cancer, and analyze thedifferences of apolipoprotein expression in small cell lung cancer andnon-small cell lung cancer and normal lung tissue, as well as expression in thegroups of neoadjuvant chemotherapy before surgery and recurrent duringtreatment in patients.Explore the clinical significance of apolipoprotein A-1,apolipoprotein C-Ⅲ and apolipoprotein E in the diagnosis of small cell lungcancer, and the role of monitoring the development of small cell lung cancer. Methods: Collect the coverage data of small cell lung cancer patientsunderwent surgery at the Fourth Hospital of Hebei Medical University fromJanuary2011to December2013, lung cancer tissues and normal lung tissues. All tissue specimens were obtained by surgery, respectively diagnosed bypathologist small cell lung cancer, squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarci-noma. A total of36cases of small cell lung cancer,4cases of squamous cellcarcinoma,6cases of adenocarcinoma and7normal lung tissues are includedin the study. Use immunohistochemical method label apolipoprotein antibodymarker, record apolipoprotein positive expression rate in different pathologicaltissue. Small cell lung cancer patients can be divided into into preoperativeneoadjuvant chemotherapy group, surgery group and recurrence group directlyaccording to the clinical data of small cell lung cancer patients, Wilcoxon testwere used for statistical differences in the analysis after the results of theimmunohistochemical were obtained.Results:1136patients with small cell lung cancer patients with a median age of53years (36to75years old),26males and10females (male to female ratio of13:5); formulated in accordance with the American Lesion (VALSG) installments:33cases are limited stages,3cases are extensive stages. Thepositive expression rate of ApoA-1, ApoC-Ⅲ, ApoE in male small cell lungcancer was91.7%、68%、92%, in females was90%、70%、100%. In limitedstage the positive expression rate was90.6%、65.6%、93.8%.22ApoA-1, ApoC-Ⅲ, ApoE expression was seen in the cytoplasm ofcells for brown particles. The positive expression rate of ApoA-1, ApoC-Ⅲ,ApoE in small cell lung cancer was88.6%、68.6%,、94.2%respectively. Innon-small cell lung cancer, the positive expression rate was100%、50%、75%, the expression in normal lung tissue are all positive. The expressionlevel of ApoE is significantly higher than in the non-small cell lung cancer.33According to the AJCC staging. There are2cases in stage Ⅰ,9cases in stageⅡ,23cases in stage Ⅲ,2cases in stage Ⅳ. The positiveexpression rate of ApoE in T1、T2、T3、T4was88.9%、100%、100%、91.7%.For ApoE there is obvious difference in the different tumor size.44The expression levels of ApoA-1、ApoC-Ⅲ are not different betweenthe group of neoadjuvant chemotherapy and single surgical. It is also notabvious for ApoE.55The expression levels of ApoA-1、 ApoC-Ⅲ、 ApoE are notsignificantly higher in the relapse group than the group without recurrence. Conclusions: This study found that ApoE positive expression rate andexpression levels in small cell lung cancer significantly higher than in thenon-small cell lung cancer, may be a molecular markers in diagnosis of smallcell lung cancer; There are significant differences in expression levels mayindicate ApoE associate with the tumor size of small cell lung cancer. Theexpression levels of ApoA-1、ApoC-Ⅲ、ApoE are significantly different in thetissues of small lung cancer. There is no numbers show that apolipoproteinmay have functions in monitoring the efficacy of chemotherapy. The studyresults suggest ApoE may play a role in the diagnosis of small cell lung cancerand may be an important factor in the prognosis. The tissues of small lungcancer, non-small lung cancer and normal lung tissue are limited. In the futurea large number of tissues need to be collected to verify the conclusions.
