ObjectiveTo investigate the risk factors for fatty liver disease.MethodsA total of1000cases with complete information in our physicalexamination center between September2013and November2013wereselected in this study, and with cancer, viral hepatitis markers positive, chronicpancreatitis, serious renal injury, acute infectious or trauma, and long-term useof steroid ruled out.The age, gender, body mass index, blood pressure, fastingblood glucose, blood uric acid, liver function, routine blood examination resultsand gallstone disease were compared between the fatty liver group andnon-fatty liver group using questionaire survey, physical examination, laboratory test, and abdominal ultrasound examination.ResultsA total of416cases of fatty liver were detected out of1000cases(41.6%)using abdominal ultrasound examination, including287male patients and129female patients. The prevalence of fatty liver disease was higher in males thanin the females (51.9%vs.28.7%)(χ2=54.011,P<0.05). The prevalence ofoverweight, obesity, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and hyperuricemia was higherin fatty group than in non-fatty liver group. Univariate analysis showed thatfatty liver group had significantly higher body mass index, systolic bloodpressure, diastolic blood pressure, triglyceride, total cholesterol, low densitylipoprotein, fasting blood-glucose and uric acid, but significantly lowerhigh-density lipoprotein cholesterol than the non-fatty liver group (P<0.05).Multiple regression analysis showed that age, gender, body massindex, triglycerides, low density lipoprotein cholesterol, fasting blood glucoselever were risk factors for fatty liver disease (P<0.05).ConclusionOverweight, obesity, hypertension, glucose metabolism disorder, dyslipidemia, and hyperuricemia increase the risks for fatty liver disease.age, gender, body mass index, triglycerides, low density lipoproteincholesterol, fasting blood glucose lever were risk factors for fatty liver disease.
