Objective: To evaluate the clinical characteristics of crohn’s disease (CD) in the firstaffiliated hospital of Fujian medical university. Methods: Inpatients with CD were collected from Janunary2008to October2013. Themedical history, laboratory findings, endoscopic findings and histological manifestation,CT enterography or MR enterography findings were evaluated. Results: A total of sixty hospitalized CD patients (37males,23females) with average ageof33.4±12.12years old and with a median course of12months were included in thisstudy. Forty-seven (78.3%) patients were diagnosed before40years old (A1+A2type),forty-three (71.7%) patient’s lesions located at the colon (L2+L3type), and twenty-eight(46.7%) patient’s lesions were B1(neither narrow nor penetrating subtype). Except forthe common symptoms such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, thirty-eight (63.3%) cases hadweight loss, and twenty-five (41.7%) cases had anemia. There was a relationship betweenHarvey-Bradshow index (HBI) and hemoglobin (HGB), hematocrit (HCT), albumin (ALB),C-reactiveprotein (CRP), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), or simple endoscopicscore for CD (SES-CD) respectively. In addition to the common treatment,75%patientsreceived glucocorticoids,43.3%patients received azathioprine and sixteen (26.7%) casesreceived surgery. Conclusions: The most of these CD patients had non-narrow and non-penetrating lesionsmainly located at the colon. Abdominal pain, diarrhea, weight loss or anemia may bediagnostic clues for younger CD patients. Harvey-Bradshow index had a significantcorrelation with SES-CD. About1/4patients accepted surgery.
