The Research And Constituting About Standards Of The Use Of Fur Animal Carcasses Processed Meat And Bone Meal Feed

It has been 60 years since China started its fur animal farming industry. For main purpose, fur animals are kept to obtain furs of high quality as materials for fur coats manufacturing, while fur animal carcasses are produced as by-products. Without full understanding, tens of thousands of carcasses by-produced in China are abandoned arbitrarily every year without deep exploitation and utilization, which is not only a great waste of animal meat resources, but also a big threat to the environment. In contrast, China is a country desperately short of animal protein feed, and approximately hundreds of thousands tons of bone meals and millions of tons offish meals are exported from other countries, which means a huge expenditure. As a result, it will greatly benefit the fur animal farming industry through deep usage of fur animal carcasses with advanced techniques, which will not only meet the requirements of animal meat, but also create more economic profits by reducing breeding costs.At present, no rules or standards relevant to the utilization of fur animal carcasses have been carried out in China. By reviewing papers about the usage of fur animal carcasses in other countries and the manufacturing processes of turning livestock by-products into meat and bone meals at home and abroad, visiting domestic fur animal breeding enterprises and consulting experts in this field, and combining with the issues exist in the process of fur animal carcasses disposure and problems in the usage of meat and bone meals in the feed stuff industry, we compiled the Standards of the Use of Fur Animal Carcasses Processed Meat and Bone Meal Feed according to the principles about the usage of meat and bone meals in GB/T 20193-2006, which is adaptive to the Chinese conditions and may help to make full use of fur animal carcasses. This technical standard series consist of meat and bone meals processing factory construction, standards in the processes of fur animals killing, carcasses purchasing and handling, detection of various index in the meat and bone meals, packing, storage and transportation of meat and bone meals for feed stuffs.The Standards make clear the fur animal carcasses processing and also provide important basis and guidance to the utilization of meat and bone meals for feed stuffs. It is recommended that the standards should be issued all over China immediately as a forestry industry standard to rectify and standardize the chaotic situation of fur animal carcasses processing to further reduce the threat to the environment and solve the problem of animal protein feed shortage and more importantly, to provide scientific basis for promoting and perfecting the sound development of the fur animal farming industry in China.
