In order to understand the behavior of captive female Chinese water deer(Hydropotes inermis) during pregnancy for conservation strategies. The experiment in Shanghai Pudong new district (Huaxia Park) from April 2014 to August 2015, using whole event recording method, scanning method and target sampling method, observe 10 pregnant females Chinese water deer in Huaxia Park. Recording the behavior type, frequency, and activities. All the behavior recorded during pregnancy were divided into conventional behavior and special behavior two parts, at the same time to analyze combine other situations.By playing recordings of different sounds could be heard in the wildfield to observe the reaction of the deer.To get relevant data and protect the deer in the wildfield. The main results were as follows:1. The deer’s litterCombining with the provided data from Zhejiang Zhoushan breeding base, it is concluded that the deer in the different area, weight is the only difference between male and female individuals (P< 0.005); In Zhoushan area, weight, ear length, foot length, chest circumference were showing extreme significant difference (P< 0.005), the tail is significant (P< 0.01).2. The deer’s behaviorThe behavior of resting(P= 0.051), standing (P= 0.222).vigilance (P= 0.101),feeding (P= 0.628),movementmentment (P= 0.323), grooming (P= 0.854). environment sniffing(P= 0.267), urnating (P= 0.241) were no significant difference, play behavior (P< 0.005). social behavior (P< 0.005) significant difference compare with the before and after, lactation behavior has significant difference (P< 0.005).2. The deer’s daily rhythm changesThe Captive female’s rhythm changes could be divided into eight periods, each observation date from 6:00 in the morning, every 90 minutes for a while, it is concluded that the female in the period 6:00am-7:30am,vigilance (P= 0.038), grooming (P= 0.016). lactation (P< 0.01) behavior have significant differences.7:30am-9:00am, standing (P=0.039). lactation behavior(P< 0.01)have significant differences,10:30am-12:00pm, standing behavior have the significant difference (P= 0.049); 12:30pm-13:30pm. feeding behavior (P= 0.044). the lactation behavior (P< 0.01) has the remarkable difference; 13:30pm-15:00pm, standing behavior (P= 0.038) and social behavior(P= 0.041),lactation behavior (P< 0.01) there are significant differences.16:30pm-18:00pm. movement behavior (P= 0.044), grooming behavior (P= 0.039), lactation behavior (P< 0.01) there were significant differences. 3. The female-fawn relationshipThrough to the behavior observation between captive female deer and the fawn found that both of them have a certain correlation on certain behaviors, through the analysis, in feeding behavior (r 0.765. P= 0.002), and lactation (r= 0.988. P= 0.009).it with significant correlation:In the movement behavior (r= 0.614, P= 0.002), and play behavior (r= 0.583, P= 0.033) also.4. The sounds’impactBy comparing different sound data found in female deer groups,70% have significant differences, 30% had no significant difference; In the male deer group of the impact,46% had significant difference and 54% had no significant difference. To tell the female deer is more sensitive to the sound than males. To analyze the voice-distance relationship found that the voice under extremely dangerous can broadcast 49.35m, normal dangerous can broadcast 43.21m, and the voice of seeking by fawn can broadcast 45.74m.5. AdviceThrough the study of the changes about the female deer’s behaviors during the pregnancy, as well as the sounds’impact about the females, the advice as follows that mention in this paper, all the advice are around the behavior, including habitat construction, on-site management, and the time when the female can reintroduce into the wild, eventually make deer’s population can increase in Shanghai, and finally form a natural populations.
