Leaves of Purple leaf dwarf cherry(Prunus×cistena),which have excellent ornamental effect, were widely used in the landscaping at present. In this experiment, Leaves of different colour period were used as plant materials;including tender-leaf stage、unfold-leaf stage、purple-leaf stage 、 silghtly-green stage 、 mostly-green stage and autumn-leaf stage.Pigments’ kinds in these materials were qualitatively identified by using UV(2450) photo-spectrometer and thin layer chromatography;and then the content of all pigments were quantitatively analysized by using HPLC-DAD.The results of this experiment showed that :the main pigments that influencing the leaf colour in each different colour stage were mainly Cyanidin、Cyanidin-galactoside and chlorophyll. The colour of Purple leaf dwarf cherry’s leaf in six different period were depending on the ratio of anthocyanin and chlorophyll. Anthocyanin made leafs red,and chlorophyll green. When the anthocyanin was as dominant pigment, leafs showed red; On the contrary, chlorophyll was as dominant pigment, leafs showed green. The large ratio of anthocyanin and chlorophyll made leafs brighter red,and vice,it would made leafs green. The proportion of anthocyanin and chlorophyll in tender-leaf stage was 4.76,leafs showed bright red,in unfold-leaf stage and purple leaf stage, they showed dark red and purple. In slightly-green stage and mostly green stage, the ratio respectively was 0.72、0.37. The complementary effect of anthocyanin and chlorophyll was most obviously when the ratio was between 1.00~2.27,Cyanidin、Cyanidin-galactoside showed red in acidic conditions.pH value of six different colour leaf period was about 5.20,that is to say, there had no or little relation between PH value and leaf colour. This experiment also explained that the constitution of pigments in six different stage were roughly the same. Other testified pigments were: Cyanidin-rutin、Arabinopyranoiside、Catechin、Chlorogenic acid、Epicatechin 、Dihydromyricetin、Rutin、Coumalic acid、ρ-coumalic acid、Carotenoids、Phloridzin、Carotenoids. These co-pigments played an important role in leaf colour changing process.
