The scarcity of improved variety is the bottleneck which restricts quality duck industrial development. Making full use of our existing excellent germplasm and combine breeding methods to cultivate new varieties of high-quality duck will be an important way to solve the scarcity of improved variety. Waterfowl breeding section, Institute of Animal Genetics and Breeding Research Institute of Sichuan Agricultural University, in collaboration with the Deyang Jingcheng poultry industry Ltd. had carried out breeding experiments between Cherry Valley Duck and Liancheng white duck to carry out high-quality new varieties (sets). This experiment.which based on practice,measured and compared the five hybrid offsprings’growth performance, meat quality traits and meat quality traits,results of this research will get a new understanding of the characteristics of the two black duck groups,and provides direction for its production and utilization.it provided references for future evaluating and filtering high quality breeding material. But also accumulated experience for the cultivate and research of high-quality new varieties (sets).Five groups in this experiment included:Black Duck (partial hemp color, PM group), Black Duck (PH group),which were obtained after years of breeding; Black Duck (partial hemp color) Hybrid group(PHL group),which was obtained after Black Duck(♂) and Liancheng White Duck(♀) Hybrided; The obtained White plume group(B group) and Gray plume group(H group) after Fl generation Selfing. Fl generation was obtained from Black Duck(♂) and Liancheng White Duck(♀) Hybriding.In this expeiment,the five tested groups hatched, and count ducklings plumage.In feeding process, management conditions and nutrient levels of the five tested groups remained the same,free access to water and feed the whole process. Measured and compared growth rate and feed consumption of different duck groups. And measurede body size duck and slaughter performance at the 16 weeks of age. The main results and conclusions are as follow:The lowest feeding cost market age of the B group is about 70 days,while colored plume groups(H, PH, PM, PHL),which needed to take slaughtered carcass appearance into account, The lowest feeding cost market age of these four groups is after 13 weeks.PM group and PH group had better growth performance,While there are obvious differences in the appearance compared with group PH and group B. PM group and PH group also had significantly better Growth performance and carcass performance and meat quality than any other three groups. Therefore, during the process of matching breeding, PM group and H group is more suitable as a breeding male parent material.PH group and PM group had great room for improvement in plumage color, growth performance, slaughter performance and meat quality indicators.For PH group, chest width can be used as a assisted selection breeding index for pectoral muscle weight and pectoral muscle weight ratio breeding. For PM group, body length, semi-submersible length, chest deep, chest angle can be used as a assisted selection breeding index for pectoral muscle weight breeding. Semi-submersible length can be used as a assisted selection breeding index for sebum rate breeding of PH group#nd PM group.
