This article studied the comparative analysis of 3 typical grades (B2F, C3F, X2F)of tobacco in 12 selected main tobacco planting areas, which includes 3 main differences from the smoking quality, chemical composition and sensory evaluation of tobacco between southern part and the other parts of Hunan. The results are as follows:The smoking quality:the upper leaves are all of high quality except for those in Linwu. Both maturity and chrominance in southern part are better than in center and northwestern part, in details, blade structure in Guiyang and Jiahe is good. Linwu tobacco isn’t of body advantage, and the method to improve cultivation is effective to improve the upper leaves appearence quality of tobacco in Linwu. The middle leaves in southern Hunan score higher than 80, which comparatively better than northwestern area from maturity, chrominance and leaves, while the chrominance of tobacco in Linwu and Jiahe is far behind. Blade structure of lower leaves in Jiangyong and Fenghuang area score the highest, and both their scores are equal to 13. The tobacco chrominance of southern Hunan is overall higher than northwestern part. Except for Yongxing and Linwu tobacco region show worse in tobacco body score, the rest regions scores well in whole.Chemical composition:the total sugar content of upper leaves is comparative high in southern Hunan, some even higher than 30%. It overall showed a slightly decreasing trend with increasing latitude and longitude, but the reducing sugar slightly increased, which means northwestern Hunan higher than central Hunan and central Hunan higher than southern Hunan. In central Hunan, Leiyang gets the best with reducing sugar and reaches 31.49% on average. The reducing sugar content of lower leaves from southern Hunan to the central Hunan shows an overall upward trend. The nicotine content of the middle leaves in Zhijiang region is highest with 3.26%. Besides, there is mo obvious regular changing pattern of nicotine content. Chloride content of the middle leaves in Yongxing tobacco cltivation region is highest, while to lower leaves, Linwu tobacco cultivation region won the best with 0.47%. In a whole, there is no big difference in regions for all chloride content belongs to almost inferior grade. Potassium content of upper leaves in Taoyuan is the highest, of middle leaves in Jiahe is the highest which significantly higher than Jiangyong, and of lower leaves in Leiyang is the highest. Therefore, potassium has rarely connection with region distributions. As for total nitrogen content, to the upper leaves, Linwu is the highest with 2.7%, which has obvious differences compared with other treatments, to the middle leaves, southern Hunan cltivation region is higher with mostly among 1.5%-1.8% and to the lower leaves, the whole Hunan is comparatively balanced about 1.8% except for Jiangyong.Sensory evaluation:the aroma quality of upper leaves in Linwu is better. The regularity is that aroma content decreased with increasing latitude in a whole, so tobacco planting area in southern Hunan enjoys comparative pure aroma. The highest aroma quality of middle leaves is in Leiyang tobacco cultivation area. As for quantity of aroma, southern Hunan tobacco cultivation area gets the highest, followed by the central Hunan part. The characteristics of impure gas, concentration and smoke are all high in Yongxing tobacco cultivation area. Potency of tobacco leaves in Leiyang tobacco planting area is the highest while Linwu tobacco cultivation area is the highest for irritant, followed by Jiangyong with 8.33 points.
