Pinus Elliottii Engelm (pinaceae:pinus) is evergreen megaphanerophyte. In this paper.30 strains of high-resin yield slash pine, that selected in American and imported in the Spring of 2010, as the experimental material, and commercial imported slash pine, masson pine, pinus taeda as the control group. Seed traits, seedling and cutting breed of high-resin yield slash pine were analyzed in order to provide tech-support for the selective breeding and rapid progagation at early stage. The results showed that:(1) The analysis results of morphological traits of high-resin slash pine seed showed that the variation of different strain seeds is significant, and the thousand seed weight is significantly and positively correlated with seeding height. Seed length:the control group 3th has the highest variation range within all groups, amplitude difference is 3.36mm and the genetic variation coefficient is 20.09%.14th and 24th strain has the minimum variation range (0.76mm), and 14th has the minimum genetic variation coefficient (3.20%). Seed diameter:the control group lth has the highest variation range, amplitude difference is 3.26mm and the genetic variation coefficient is 18.40%.3th strain has the minimum variation range (4.60%), the amplitude difference is 0.68mm. Seed diameter to length: 23th strain has the highest variation range, the amplitude difference is 0.39, and 3th,17th and 20th has the minimum variation range (0.1).12th,27th and control 3th and 1th is belong to group 2, however, the other strain is belong to group 1 of better quality.(2) The seeding breed experimental results showed that 1th,2th,3th,9th,11th,14th, 15th,17th,25th,26th strain, which germination rate is above 80%, showed strong adaptability to the environment of Jiangxi. However, the germination rate of 4th,5th and 16n is only about 30%. Take the hereditary character and germination rate into comprehensive consideration,9th,11th,14th and 15th 26th, strain were selected. The growth situation of one-year seeding of different strains showed significant difference. 29th strain has the best growth situation (48.1cm) and 4th strain is the worst (30.4cm). The growth situation of 5th,19th,20th,22th and 29th is generally better. Seeding height is significantly and positively correlated with the thousand seed weight.(3) Cutting experiment results showed that Formula one has better root promoting effects, however, the differences between rooting rate and the average root length is significant.9th strain has the highest rooting rate (88.67%),22th strain has the lowest rooting rate (47.33%).29th has the longest average root length (16.7cm),14th has the shortest average root length (4.3cm).12th has the highest cutting survival rate (94%) and the average survival rate is 86.54%. The genetic variation coefficients of cutting quantitative characters of different strain are 4.7 to 23.54%. The rooting rate has the biggest variation amount however the family effect is relatively small.
