A Study On The Effects Of Fertilization Treatments On Wood Properties Of Young Slash Pine Plantation

Natural conditions and cultivation measures are important factors in affecting wood properties, so fertilization would inevitably change wood characteristics of Slash Pine. It is necessary to study different formula fertilization which affect wood physical properties, anatomical characteristics, chemical composition, mechanical properties and so on.The plantation growth and wood properties was studied based on the 9-year-old plantation of young Slash Pine founded on yellow-red soil, according to three different fertilizer types and different ratios of N, P, K, with 10 treatments and a comparison group(P1、P2、P3、N、K1、K2、NP2、P1K1、P2K1、NP2K1、CK). The main conclusions were as follows:Fertilization on the impact of wood properties of Slash Pine is closely related with the fertilizer types and different ratios.Variances of tree height, stem basal diameter and volume with different formula fertilization were significant at the 0.05 level. Different formula fertilization of single P, NP2, P1K1, P2K1, NP2K1 conducive to the growth of Slash Pine, fertilization after-effects, which P3 on the growth of Slash Pine promote the most obvious. Effect of N-fertilizer on Slash Pine tree height, stem basal diameter and volume was negative, while K-fertilizers on the growth of Slash Pine is not obvious.P-fertilizer improve Slash Pine basic density obviously, apply fertilizer quantity proportional to basic density. Wood basic density of Slash Pine was reduced with N and K2. NP2, P1K1, P2K1, NP2K1 can significantly increase the proportion of wood basic density, but the analysis of variance was not significant; Latewood percentage increase obviously with P-fertilization, especially P2. K2 and NP2, P1K1, P2K1 also marked impact significantly on the latewood percentage of Slash Pine. N, P, K total fertilization works best. Effect of N-fertilization on latewood percentage was not obvious. Variance of latewood percentage with different fertilization reached a significant level.Variances of tracheid width, tracheid diameter, double-wall thickness, ratio of the traeheid diameter to width and microfibrillar angle with different formula fertilization were significant, in which fertilization on the ratio of the traeheid diameter to width and ratio of double-wall thickness to diameter, while fertilization after-effects on tracheid length and ratio of tracheid length to width. P, K and compound fertilizer accelerate the growth of the tracheid length in Slash Pine addition to N-single fertilizer, most obvious effect of P-fertilizer, particularly P1.The fertilization reduces the tracheid width and diameter, the smallest with compound fertilizer. K-fertilizer thinner the tracheid double-wall thickness, K1 fertilization has obvious effect. P, K and compound fertilizer increases the ratio of the tracheid length to width in Slash Pine except N-single fertilizer. K-fertilizer increases the ratio of the traeheid diameter to width, especially K1 fertilization. Fertilization increases the ratio of double-wall thickness to diameter of Slash Pine, p fertilizer should be obvious. Effects of fertilization on tracheid microfibrillar angle is uncertain, in which P1K1, NP2K1 significantly less than CK.The microfibrillar angle of P3、K1、P1K1、NP2K1 were smaller than CK, and NP2 K1 gained minimum value, secondly were P1K1.Basic density of Slash Pine wood was positively correlated with latewood percentage, tracheid length, double-wall thickness, ratio of the traeheid length to width and ratio of tracheid double-wall thickness to diameter, while significantly negatively related to the microfibrillar angle of most of the fertilization treatments. The microfibrillar angle reached a significant negative correlation level with tracheid length, double-wall thickness, ratio of the traeheid length to width and ratio of tracheid double-wall thickness to diameter of most of the fertilization treatments.Different deals of fertilization of cellulose content value were higher than CK except N fertilization treatment, and P3、K2, NP2K1 were obviously higher than CK among them;Single P and N, P mixed can reduce extractive content of Slash Pine while single K increasing, but the difference among various fertilization treatments was not significant; The mean value of lignin content of applied treatment were lower than CK except P2,NP2,K2, P3 and NP2K1 reduced lignin content greatly among them, and variance analysis was prominent.As mentioned above, an appropriate amount of P, N and P mixed, P and K mixed, N P K fertilization had positive effect on the increment of growth and wood properties of Slash Pine on yellow-red soil, to meating the special Slash Pine fertilization as one promotion of the application in silviculting.
