Recent years, the use of hydropower resources has a rapid development, and water conservancy and hydropower project construction has made a great progress too. While the construction solves human problems of electricity use, it also brings some environmental problems. Gate Dam located on the river breaks the continuity of the original river, and changes the inherent natural characteristics, which destrois the ecological balance of river and gradually reduces the quantity of fish as a result. Therefore, during the design and construction of hydropower stations, the fish passage should be built on the both sides of dam to guarantee the passage of fish and some other organisms.Fish passage a artificial sink for fish migration through dam or water gate, which is considered as a important compensation measure for the adverse impact on the ecological environment of water conservancy. Meanwhile, the current domestic research on the fish passage is still at a preliminary stage, especially the natural style fish passage. In this paper, an example of a hydropower station on the Dadu River has been studied, through data analysis, on-site testing, hydraulic model tests and hydraulic calculation verification, to research the key technology of fish passage for hydropower stations, which is in order to improve the ecological environment in the river and ecological restoration of the river. The main contents are as follows:(1) To learn the fish resources in the river of this project through data collection; to understand fish resources overview of the project section of the river, to determine the typical over-fish objects according to the results of fish tests which are also considered as the experimental subjects of this paper.(2) To determine the induction velocity, critical flow velocity, flow rate and durability onrush speed of fish by fish swimming ability tests, which is to provide a strong basis for the parameters of the fish passage.(3) According to the terrain features of this project area and the requirements over the fish, to determine the fish passage facilities in this project which is arranged of two:one vertical fish passage on left bank and one near natural style fish passage on right bank; to make the import and export segment hydraulic model tests, the majority-foot flume tests of vertical slotted fish passage on the left bank, the 1/10 hydraulic model tests of vertical slotted fish passage on the left bank,1/7 hydraulic model test of near natural style fish passage on the right bank. At last to propose the basic layout scheme and verifying its rationality.
