Chrysopa formosa Brauer belongs to Neuroptera, Chrysopidae, Chrysopa being distributed in most areas in China. It is an important natural enemy for preying on many kinds of aphids, red spider, scale insects, wood louse, leafhoppers, mealworms and all kinds of insect eggs, meanwhile, it has advantages of wide distribution, large population, both adult and larvae can feed on a variety of insect pests and so on, so it is a potential natural enemy insects. A mass used C. formosa in farmland is the use of biological control method to realize the sustainable control of pests, they are beneficial to improving the quality of farmland products and protecting the environment. The artificial diets for the adult of C.formosa has been studied, however, there is no research on the artificial diet for the larvae of C.formosa. In this paper, the defatted powder of housefly having been used as an animal protein component of artificial diets for the larva of C.formosa were researched. The methods of Artificial Diet, Physiology, Biochemistry of Insect and Insect Ecology were used for evaluation of the optimum formala of the 3 diets for the larvae and 2 diet for the adult of the C.formosa. The results as follows:1. The liquid type which was carried by sponge was the best form of the artificial diet for the larvae of C.formosa. The type not only could hold water better but also had a simple operation.2. Take the full-fat powder of housefly larva, yeast powder, pork liver powder and the defatted powder of housefly larva as the main composition respectively, add beef powder, egg, honey and other components to formulate the artificial diet in this trial. First to third instar larvae on all the four diets developed to adult stages respectively. However, the diets with the defatted powder of housefly larva was better than those with full-fat powder, yeast powder and pork liver in terms of larval survival, larval development period, pupal weight, adult eclosion rate and the adult obtaining rate. Using the uniform design method to optimize feed formulation. Through the regression analysis in SAS software obtain 3 optimium composition of the ingredients for the larvae of C.formosa:Artificial diet for first instar larvae (ADⅠ) defatted powder of housefly larva 6.5 g, beef powder 3.9 g, pork liver 17 g, chicken egg yolk 1.7 g, honey 1.3g. Artificial diet for first instar larvae (ADⅡ) defatted powder of housefly larva 6.0 g, beef powder 4.0 g, pork liver 1.6 g, chicken egg yolk 1.6 g, honey 1.3g. Artificial diet for first instar larvae (ADIII) defatted powder of housefly larva 6.4 g, beef powder 3.9 g, pork liver 1.6 g, chicken egg yolk 1.7 g, honey 1.3g. Rearing the larvae with the three diets, the adult obtaining rate of AD I、AD II and ADIII diets were up to66.7%、65% and 71.7% respectively.3.Based on the research of Jiujun Yu about the artifical diet for the adult of the C.forsoma, added royal jelly and ascorbic acid in the diet。The result revealed that the adult of the C.forsoma in fecundity, oviposition and female life have improved significantly, achieve 1062.8 eggs,41.1d,55.9d respectively.4.The investigation results of the predation effect of D. neobrevipes showed that fed the larvae with the artificial diets or D. neobrevipes were fitted to Holling II model. The capability on preying the artifical diet was lower than the one of the control.5.Adults fed on D. neobrevipes which larvae were fed with artificial diets could lay 926.4 eggs per female. It had significantly difference with the control which female C.formosa laid 1127.6 eggs.6.The nutrient components of artificial diets which mainly include crude protein and crude fat was analyzed. The crude protein and crude fat in artificial diet was 24.36% and 15.08%.In future studies, we should analysis the crude protein and crude fat in D. neobrevipes to improve the artificial diet.
