| Propylea japonica(Thungberg)belongs to Coleoptera, Coccinellidae, being distributed in most areas in China, Japan, India and Russia. It is an important natural enemy for preying on many kinds of aphids, low instar leafhopper, hopper nymph, adult psylla, eng and larva of some Lepidoptera pests. It could live in a harsh environment and tolerance starvation. A mass used P. japonica in farmland are beneficial to protecting the environment and improving the quality of farmland products. In this paper, housefly Musca domestica larvae and yellow mealworm Tenebrio molitor pupae having been used as an animal protein component of artificial diets for the larva of P. japonica were researched respectively. The methods of Artificial Diet, Physiology, Biochemistry of Insect and Insect Ecology were used for evaluation of the optimum formala of the diets. The results as follows: The gelatin type which was integrating agar in the diet was the best form of the artificial diet for the larvae of P. japonica. The type not only could hold water better but also was more molding that resistant the larvae adhere to diet.Housefly larvae and yellow mealworm pupae were processed into five forms: the water extract, full-fat power, defatted powder, microwave powder and freezing&drying powder. Then made them into different artificial diets to find out which one was more suitable for P. japonica larvae growth. By appraising on larva development time, larva livability, pupa development time, eclosion rate, adult weight and adult obtaining rate, the defatted powder both in housefly larva and yellow mealworm pupa was the best choice for diets.Orthogonal design L9(34)was used for screening the main components and levers of artificial diets. Two theoretically optimum diets were obtained:(ADâ… )defatted power of housefly larvae 0.50g, yeast extract 0.25g, sugar 0.30g, olive oil 0.01g, honey 0.2g water 3.65g.(ADâ…¡)defatted power of yellow mealworm pupae 0.50g, yeast extract 0.35g, sugar 0.30g, olive oil 0.02g, honey0.2g, water3.65g. Rearing the larvae with the two diets, the adult obtaining rate of ADâ… and ADâ…¡diets were up to 86.11% and 75% respectively. Both of them were practical, the ADâ… diet was better. The investigation results of the predation effect of ladybeetle showed that fed with the 2 artificial diets or soybean aphids in larva stage, the functional response of male adults both of them to soybean aphids were fitted to Holling II model. The capability on preying the aphids of male adult fed with 2 artificial diets was lower than the one of the control. Adults fed on soybean aphids which larvae were fed with ADâ… could lay 916.2 eggs per female. It had no difference with the control which female ladybeetles laid 943.2 eggs fed on soybean aphids. Adults fed on soybean aphids which larvae were fed with ADâ…¡could lay 684.7eggs per female. It was significantly lower than the control. The ordinary nutritions components of ladybeetle larvae in 4th instar which fed with artificial diets of ADâ… and ADâ…¡were analised, using the ladybeetle larvae fed on soybean aphid as the control. The results showed that the water contents which fed with 2 artificial diets were significantly higher than the one of the control. The crude proteins were similar with the one of the control. The crude fat was significantly lower, only 2/3 of the control. It is suggested form this results that the improvement of artificial diets for the ladybeetle larvae should be taken to raise the crude fat of the larvae in the further research. |
