With the development of tractor technology and agricultural modernization in China, double-acting clutch with independent manipulation have entered into the user’s life deeply in order to meet the requirements of different operations and different equipments. With the development of computer technology and finite element theory, analyze and optimize for key components of double-acting clutch by using finite element software have been a popular and effective method.Double-acting clutch is studied mainly in the aspects of structural design, analysis and optimization of components and experiment in this article. Firstly, the structure and working principle of double clutch was analyzed, and the three-dimensional mode of clutch was established. Secondly, analysis and optimization of the three major components was completed. In the first place, temperature distribution, stress distribution and deformation of clutch pressure plate were got on the basis of carrying thermal-stress coupling analysis. In order to reduce the stress concentration and deformation of pressure plate, structure optimization was carried by making the level surface a slope surface and making the friction surface a 1° internal taper. The result shows that the stress peak and the axial deformation were reduced. Then, the working process of the belleville spring was simulated according to the actual working situation in the finite element software. And the load-deformation curve and the stress nephogram were got in static general solver. In order to make the pressing force change small enough when the friction plate wears, the optimization of belleville spring is made. Analysis results show that compression force change declined and the reserve coefficient was more stable, which meet the design requirement. Finally, strength analysis of clutch housing was accomplished, which came to a conclusion that the place where separation lever installs had a large deformation. So this part was thickened. The result shows that the deformation of the optimized clutch housing decreased significantly. Thirdly, the separation characteristic test,speed strength test and durability test of the clutch were carried out respectively,and the results were compared and analyzed.The results of the study indicate that the separation stroke reduced to 8.6 mm from the original 9mm after the optimization of components for the clutch assembly, which help to reduce the incomplete separation phenomenon; The wear loss of side A and B for friction plate has decreased by 2.9% and 2.38% respectively and the wear loss of pressure plate has decreased by 14.29%, which caused by the decrease of the stress and deformation for improved pressure plate. The wear phenomena of friction plate and pressure plate are improved, which improve the service life of the clutch assembly.
