Ten different types of domestic and overseas alfalfa as materials were used to study the first-and second-year production performance and nutrition content of alfalfa. By random complete block design, comprehensive evaluation was carried out by subordinate function values analysis to provide a theoretical basis for introduction and cultivation of alfalfa in Yanmenguan grassland ecosystem research station of.Shanxi agriculture university. The results showed as follows:(1) Zhongmu No.l turned green earlier and had a higher overwintering rate. It had a strong adaptability in the region.(2) The yield of alfalfa was significantly different among varieties and the changing trend of fresh grass yield was consistent with the trend of hay yield (P<0.05). The yield of second-year was higher than the first-year except the Pioneer, and the increasing range of different varieties of alfalfa was also different. Hay yield of first harvest was higher than the second. The yield of the first harvest was between 56.48% and 69.00% in fresh grass yield while the yield in hay yield was probably at 60%, lower than fresh grass yield.(3) Stem-leaf ratio and dry-wet weight ratio of alfalfa had no significant difference among varieties (P>&.05), while it was extremely significantly different of the second-harvest at the same year (P<0.01). The stem-leaf ratio of alfalfa decreased with the extension of growth years, while the fresh-dry ratio changed inconformitly. The stem-leaf ratio and dry-fresh ratio of the second-harvest was both lower than the first harvest.(4) The nutrition content of alfalfa had extremely significant difference among different varieties at the same harvest (P<0.01). The changing trend of nutrition content at different harvest was basically the same, except the content of NDF, and nutritional value of the second harvest was higher than the first.(5) According to the correlative analysis, the hay yield was negatively correlated with content of CP (r=-0.739, P<0.05) and dry-fresh ratio (r=-0.362, P>0.05), and was positively correlated with stem-leaf ratio (P>0.05). The content of CP was negatively correlated with stem-leaf ratio and content of NDF, while was extremely significantly correlated with the content of ADF (r=-0.739, P<0.05).(6) According to the subordination function method, the results showed that the membership value of Zhongmu No.1, Captain and Queen Alfalfa was higher than others based on hay yield and the nutrition content of them had a strong adaptability and were suitable for cultivation promotion in this area.
