Buckwheat(Fagopyrum esculentum Monch.),originating from China,is planted in west China intensively. Buckwheat, with high nutritional value and health care value, has no strict demand for soil, which means it can be planted in barren and arid regions.Common buckwheat is the grain and economic crops for some rural areas, however, its production is lower with two main reasons. On one hand, common buckwheat, with heteromorphic flowers, is self-incompatibility,so its production keeps at a relative low level. On the other hand, most of the managements of planting buckwheat are extensive, lacking reasonable way of planting, which also leads to the low-production.Therefore,cultivating the same type of flowers which are self-compatibility is regarded as a crucial method to solve the low-production of buckwheat by a great number of scholars. The inheritance of buckwheat style is very complicated and there have been fewer studies on this. Meanwhile, the application prospect in producing has not been proved. In conclusion, studying the style of common buckwheat, the performance of fecundity, agronomic and economic character,as well as production potential play a crucial role not only in revealing the inheritance of fecundity of common buckwheat, but also in exploring high yield characteristics and productivity potential, and improving its production. This study is proceeded in greenhouse and field screen house to study the performance of fecundity. In the field, the density of common buckwheat and same type flower is divided into three different standard, namely high, medium and low density. The productivity potential of the same type of flowers is studied by comparing and analyzing the fecundity, relative agronomic and economic characteristics, and the yield. The results are as follows.(1)The same type of flowers are self-compatibility. In the isolated condition, the seed setting rate of the same type of flowers is 4.0-31.8%,while that of common buckwheat is 0-12.6%.in condition of open-pollinated, the seed setting of former is 31.5-45.3% and that of latter is 23.4-31.3%,which shows the seed setting rate of the same type of flowers is also higher than that of common buckwheat. In condition of open-pollinated in field, the influence of density is different in the seed setting rate of the same type of flowers and common buckwheat.(2)In medium and high density condition, the same type of flowers, whose production is much higher than that of common buckwheat, show up high productivity, especially in high density.(the highest production in this study is 2870 kg per hectare. With the decline of density, the yield decreased significantly. The production of the same type of flowers is lower than that of common buckwheat. Therefore, the same type of flowers is heavy-density plant, which shows remarkable yield advantage in high density. Thus, it should be planted in high density so that high quality can be obtained.(3)With the increase of density, the production of common buckwheat rises and then fallen, so it belongs to reasonable-density plant. The most suitable density for Ding buckwheat No.1 is 40,000 per acre. Too high density leads to the competition of space and nutrition for individual, which causes the decline of fecundity, branch number per plant, flower cluster per plant and the number of seed setting per plant. Then the production will be influenced. While if the density is too low, the flower cluster per acre will slip substantially due to the reduction of individual, and the production level is quite low. So the reasonable plant structure must be formed if higher production is expected to be gained in common buckwheat.(4)The density of common buckwheat has different influence over the expression of agronomic and productivity characteristics on different breed. Among all of the characteristics, height of plant, the number of main stem and 1000-grain weight is less influenced by the density, particularly 1000-grain weight. The most influenced are flower cluster and the number of seed setting per plant. Other characteristics present complex response in different breed.
