In this study,in order to Increase production of Secondary metabolites of Catalpabungei, growth indexes such as Plant height,Ground diameter,Leaf area and Chemicalcomposition which is Mainly Flavonoid of Catalpa bungei which is planted in WeiheExperiment Station of Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University were studied.Thisstudy of Catalpa’s law of growth and its law of secondary metabolite accumulation hasgathered information about the growth indicators and the content of falconoid as well as thevariations in these two aspects among different clones and among those in differentcultivation patterns. The information gathered here delineates the characteristics of Catalpaand the law of total flavonoids synthesis, which provides theoretical foundations for thecultivation of improved breed and the extraction of secondary metabolites. The mainfindings of this research are as following:1. The research finds out the optimized extraction process of general flavone from theleaves of Catalpa through response surface analysis experiment, as well as experiments withthe different concentration levels of extracting solution, different extraction durations, different ratio of solid to liquids, and different times of extraction and analysis of theirimpacts on the total amount of flavonoids extracted from leaves. The optimized extractionprocess requires temperature at80centigrade degree, ethanol concentration of80%,extraction duration of90minutes, and ratio of solid to liquid of1:25as well as twice theextraction.2、The differences between cultivation patterns have great or extremely sharp impact onCatalpa in aspects such as stem length, ground diameter and leaf area. Its fastest growthhappens during the period from the beginning of May to the early June every year and itsleaves grow fastest in early June. Taking all growth indexes into consideration, Catalpa growsbetter in leaf-oriented model than in high-forest. Cultivation under leaf-oriented model isconducive to the overall growth of Catalpa, especially good for the growth of its bark whichcan be used as medicine but not good for its use as wood.3、There are great difference in stem height, ground diameter and leaf area amongdifferent clones of Catalpa. These clones grow fastest from the middle of June to the middle of July; and clone9-1and clone1-4have advantages in various aspects of growth indicators, especially suitable for plantation in the natural condition of Wei river experiment station.4、The total flavonoids in the leaves vary greatly among individuals under differentcultivation pattern, exhibiting a trend of increase-decrease-increase again. And the greatestamount of total flavonoids in leaves appears in July; the average of catalpa trees in high-forestmode was a little higher than that in leave-oriented mode, while the growth and differentiationof Catalpa leaves is generally better in leave-oriented model.5、The total flavonoids content the leaves of different types clones vary greatly in time. For clone1-1, the total flavonoids content declines during the period from June to August andreaches its peak at September; for clone1-4, however, the total flavonoids content keepsincreasing, with no obvious fluctuation during July and August and reaching its peak inSeptember; while for clones9-1and2-6, their total flavonoids content in leaves generallyexhibit a tendency of increase-decrease-decrease and reach the peak also tat September. Theaverage flavonoids content in leaves of all these clones mentioned above follows the order, from the highest to the lowest:2-6,1-4,9-1,1-1.
