The Catalpa bungei is of multipurpose,consist of timber wood,watching, environmental protection.This research takes the catalpa annual langbianensis for example and do experimentation with the adaptability and the growing characteristic,to select fast-growing and well- adaptability Catalpa seedlings for Jiangsu and the adjacent area.This paper researchs on catalpa langbianensis biomass and the physiological index,evaluates syntheticly the growth indexes of 8 defferent species using correlation analysis and the factor analysis methods,and selects some species suitable to grow spread in Jiangsu Province,provides the theory basis for the langbianensis management.This research obtains the main results are as follows:1,Catalpa of different species diverse extremely in the height,diameter,and the biomass,and the annual growth rhythm assumes the obvious S growth curve.the results indicated that growth patterns of height and diameter at ground can be fitted by S curves and can be simulated with Logistic equations.2,The periods of catalpa annual langbianensis may divide into 3 times in Jiangsu,such as:early growth period(initial period),fast-growing period and late growth period.The production of prosperity period is about 58.6%and60.04%of height,diamete in whole year.3,According to experiment,drought stress of Catalpa of different species diverse occurred at July and August,but this time was also fast-growing period in the height,diameter,and the biomass,so the artificial fostering was critical for the height,diameter,and the biomass,and it was a cirtical time for artifieial fostering.4,The height fast-growing period of the catalpa annual langbianensis is 25days longer than the diameter fast-growing period.The were some difference among the indexes of individuals,which showed that individual selecting from all kinds of breedings was necessary and practieable.
