In this study,we investigated the effect of glutamine on growth performance andbiochemical indicators of weaning rabbits, And the reasons why glutamine promoted thegrowth of weaning rabbits and kept healthy were discussed. The experiment was designedusing single-factor randomized trial. Forty male and forty female rabbits with similar weight,34days old, were randomly divided into6groups, which were control group, test I group, testII group, test III group, test IV group and test Vgroup,Each group has4replicates with10rabbits. The test group glutamine levels were0.4%,0.8%,1.2%,1.6%and2.0%. The triallasted for7days for adaptation and60days for test (starter1-30d, finisher31-60d). Sixrabbits each group were slaughtered for the indicators measurement in30th day and in60thday during the test. The results showed as follows:(1) Glutamine can improve average daily gain, feed intake and lower feed conversionratio.①at the early stage of the test(1to30d), the average daily gain of all experimentalgroups were higher than control group, compared with the control group, experimental groupI increased by7.77%(P>0.05), the other group increased by17.87%,18.05%,21.81%and18.05%respectively (P <0.05); In the late test (31to60d), compared with the control group, the group I and group II average daily gain increased by4.66%and4.61%respectively (P>0.05); In the whole test period (1to60d), all experimental groups on average daily gain werehigher than control group, and the control group respectively increased by3.84%,6.63%,3.32%,6.63%and3.32%, respectively (P>0.05).②In the early stage of the test, the test group, the experiment group IV and V group IIIof the average daily feed intake were higher than control group, and increased by3.42%,4.57%and4.69%respectively (P <0.05); in the late test, the experiment I, II group werehigher than the control group2.67%,2.66%respectively (P <0.05); In the whole test, theexperiment group IV and V group II is higher than the control group1.74%,1.73%and2.37%respectively (P <0.05).③in the early stage of the test, the test gain ration compared with the control group wasreduced by3.93%,13.27%,10.47%,3.93%,10.84%, the test group II, IV, V group were significantly lower than control group (P <0.05); Late in the test, the test group was higherthan the control group, but the difference was not significant (P>0.05); In the whloe testperiod, experiment group I, II group and experiment group III and IV group compared withcontrol group was reduced by2.19%,2.74%,0.18%and0.19%respectively (P>0.05).(2) glutamine failed to improve the slaughtering performance of weaning rabbit. Whilecompared with control group, glutamine increased the percentage of half-eviscerated yieldand percentage of eviscerated yield, but the difference was not significant (P>0.05).(3) glutamine failed to increase weaning rabbit fur weight and the area. Fur weight test IIgroup is significantly higher than the control group, but the fur area differences betweenexperimental groups was not significant (P>0.05).(4) in the early stage of the test, glutamine can reduce weaning diarrhea morbidity andmortality, and the diarrhea rate in the test group than the control group decreased by10.57%,40.28%,9.40%,20.50%,30.56%, deaths in the test group rate than the control groupdecreased by36.82%,38.44%,2.66%,36.82%,1.00; in late-stage test, adding glutamine Rexfailed to reduce weaning diarrhea and mortality.(5) glutamine can improve the blood biochemical indexes of the weaning rabbit.①in the early stage of the test, the test group, the experiment group IV and V group IIIof serum total protein is higher than the control group2.42%,2.1%and9.98%respectively,but no significant difference (P>0.05); in the late test, the test group I, II, III, IV, V group andtest group were higher than the control group1.36%,2.88%,9.27%,6.23%,19.31%,includingtest V group is significantly higher than control group (P <0.05).②in the early stage of the experiment, the experiment group II and III groups, experiment group IV and V of the serum total cholesterol is higher than the control group0.76%,16.03%,27.48%and46.56%respectively, the test V group is significantly higher thancontrol group (P <0.05); in the late test, compared with the control group, experimentalgroups content decreases, but the difference was not significant (P>0.05).③glutamine can decrease weaning rabbit serum urea nitrogen content. In the earlystage of the experiment, the experimental group each group than the control group of thecontent of serum urea nitrogen respectively was reduced by10.28%,13.45%,36.05%,35.68%,34.85%, the experiment group III, IV and V group were significantly lower thancontrol group (P <0.05); in the late test, the test group I, II, IV, V group than the control groupincreased by17.96%,5.99%,23.24%and5.99%respectively (P>0.05).From the results above, from1to30days after weaning, the diet adding glutamine canimprove the growth performance, reduce weaning diarrhea morbidity and mortality, improvethe blood biochemical indexes of weaning rabbit, add the optimal level of glutamine is0.8%; from31to60d after weaning, adding glutamine on rabbit production performance and bloodbiochemical indicators were not significantly affected.
