The Epidemiological Investigation Of Swine Pseudorabies In Scale Pig Farms In Some Areas Of Shandong Province

Pseudorabies is an acute infectious disease, which is caused by pseudorabies virus ofα-herpes virus subfamily from herpes virus family. It can cause the onset of a variety ofdomestic and wild animals. Pigs are the main storage reservoir and source of infection of thisdisease.The prevalence of current of this disease in all regions is on the rise. So, PRVSeverely restricting the development of China’s pig industry. In order to understand thecurrent status of Shandong province of the disease epidemic and to provide epidemiologicaldata for the prevention and control of swine, this experiment investigated the followingaspects.Test2835serum samples which is from14cities in Shandong province during March2013to February2014by the American idexx’s PRV gE-ELISA kits. The results show thatserum antibody positive rate in Shandong province farms is65.59%(67/102) and serumantibody positive rate of individual pigs is44.10%(1250/2835). So, the results showed thatthe pseudorabies virus infection in pigs of Shandong province is in common.Test383samples of different batches at different times of13cities from Shandongprovince during March2013to February2014by PRV PCR. The results show that thepositive rate is19.58%(75/383).Do the chi-square test and the maximum likelihood estimate on the experimental resultson serologic and PCR results. The results show that the positive rate has significantdifferences in different regions, different seasons, different growth stages and different scalefarms.The positive rate of pigs in different seasons farms shows that pseudorabies haveoccurred throughout all the year and higher prevalence occerred in winter but spring, summerand autumn relatively have a low infection rate.The positive rate of pigs in different scales farms shows that large farms have thelowest positive rate followed by medium-sized farms and the small farms have the highestpositive rate. Visible good breeding environment and the prevention and control measures arevery important for the prevention of disease.The positive rate of pigs in different areas shows that pseudorabies prevalent inShandong province which should abtain close attention from each region.The positive rate of pigs in different groups of pigs shows that the newborn piglets and weaners have the highest positive rate. It is because that newborn piglets immature immunesystem, resistance to pathogens is not strong. Weaners in the transfer group process, but alsoa variety of vaccine period, prone to stress immunity. Therefore, prevention and control workshould do more on newborn piglets and weaners.
