The study on effect of thymol and/or of p-cymene (control,0mg/90mL; thymol,33mg/90mL;p-cymene,20.6mg/90mL;thymol+p-cymene,33+20.6mg/90mL) on rumen fermentation and methane eminssion of cattle in vitro12-h batch culture of rumen fluid with a60:40concentrate:forage diet, the aim was to select suitable thymol and of p-cymene of supplement.The results were as follows:(1) Certain concentration range of oregano oil can regulate rumen microbial fermentation,24mg/90mL oregano oil can increase the total volatile fatty acids (TVFA), the test groups were added oregano oil to improve the final pH value of the culture solution, reducing the final state of ammonia nitrogen concentration,48,72mg/90mL oregano oil reduces methane production.(2) Wild oregano oil extraction, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) for qualitative determination of oregano oil was the main component of thymol and p-cymene, the ratio is about1.6, the main qualitative composition of oregano oil is thymol (46.38%),p-cymene (28.84%) and γ-terpinene (7.74%); the quantitative determination of oregano oil results of44.52mg/g thymol,27.69mg/g p-cymene.(3) Relative to controls, it seems to be more intense for the effect of thymol,22mg/90mL level would significantly reduce TVFA and methane production; p-cymene, at27.5,41.3mg/90mL, significantly increased the final pH, of the culture medium,34.4mg/90mL significantly reduces the ammonia N concentration.(4) The study shows that a specific ratio of thymol and of p-cymene influence on rumen microbial fermentation to produce a synergistic effect.33mg/90mL thymol,20.6mg/90mL of cymene regulation of rumen microbial fermentation, and the two had a synergistic effect on rumen microbial fermentation. |
