Along with the rapid development of weapon test, the test of high- tech weapons tends to be normalization. The higher requirement for the performance and reliability of the test equipment is proposed. In the shooting range test, the optical equipment plays a very important role in missile ballistic test and attitude measurement. So the weapons test range decided to develop a new precise tracking trajectory measurement system in order to improve the test efficiency.This paper is mainly to research the theodolite, including the TV tracking system of electronic, servo control system, data communication system, television tracking image display system and data processing software.Firstly, we introduce the theodolite’s general structure of TV tracking system and design the theodolite’s servo control system. Analyzing the mathematical model of each module of the photoelectric tracking servo system in detail. Then we make sure of the functional requirements of the servo controller design. The development of system which including DSP and FPGA circuits, PWM power amplifier driving module, Photoelectric encoder interface circuit and the protection circuit is based on the hardware platform which is based on DSP/FPGA servo controller. Then introducing the software development system in detail, including the software design tools and design flow.Secondly, we design the data communication system’s communication main control board and external interface board in order to receive the mainly control computer’s control command, transmit the control command and guide data. At the same time the system collect the measurement data and state information of each system and provide them to master computer. By using the optical fiber communication technology, the transmission efficiency of the each system of the theodolite is improved.We upgrade the image display and recording system. By using asynchronous serial communication card to obtain the time code and encoder measurement data. We also use the image acquisition card to obtain the camera image in order to display the collected image and time information, encoder information in real time. We also use the new system to make the image encoder can receive the digital image information and the analog image information of the monitoring television, which sent by the optical fiber communication unit. Therefore, the system can select the image stretching, filtering, pseudo color display function according to the control command.At last, according to the development and characteristics of optical measurement equipment used in shooting range we design a set of TV tracking image data processing software by using the technique of image sharpening, pseudo color processing, linear enhancement and image equalization.
