With the development of computer technology, microelectronic technology and related technologies, intelligentized digital electronic systems are being applied to more and more areas. In pilot balloon theodolite, copy with the series shortcoming that need record observation data manually and input data to calculate manually when measure upper level wind in the past, but as we known there are a lot of negative factors. Relying on its advantages, such as low-cost, low power, reliability, flexibility, etc., C8051F023 is providing us a better solution for digital balloon theodolite. Developed intelligentized and widely applicable digital pilot balloon theodolite by use of integration of optics, mechanics and electrics technologies. When in observation the pipal can be man—tracked, the theodolite is able to record wind data automatically, to calculate result of observation automatically. System comprises digital pilot balloon theodolite, computer computing platform, and portable calculator, its architecture and hardware configuration and software design is presented.The paper review the history of pilot balloon theodolite, the status of development at home and abroad, and the deficiency of pilot balloon theodolite be used. Digital pilot balloon theodolite system design and realization based on C8051F023 MCU. This paper mainly introduces data collection system and data calculation system of pilot balloon theodolite.Data collection system uses C8051F023 as the MCU, the peripheral circuit use of FPGA. The data via wireless communication module is transmitted to data computing systems, that is the computer and portable calculator. Data acquisition system filters external environment noise which impact digital signals. Second generation wavelet filters process is the theoretical basis for the calculation.Data computing systems, the main parts of the portable calculator design and realization, using TMS320C32 floating-point DSP, and FLEX EPFIOKIO FPGA constitute a dual controller architecture. DSP is mainly used to process the data, FPGA provides control hub, using the wireless communication module to transmit data. Described the part of data calculation and provided computing model.
