The Plight Of Edge Street In Medium And Small Cities After Town To Street

With the acceleration of urbanization process in medium and small cities, peri-urban areas participated in the urbanization in "The Town Street" way. However,most of them did not achieve the rapid development with a new look as expected,they became edge streets far away from the city center and not taken seriously by rulers after reform instead. These brought all sorts of troubles such as the ambiguous orientation,lag of economic development,low masses identity which seriously hindered the advance of urbanization. How to break these difficulties and integrate into the city as well as increase the level of urbanization became the inescapable tension faced by edge streets in a new round of urbanization process.Based on the relevant theories and practical methods,the article comprehensively analyzed the background,purpose,ideas,the function change in edge street agencies and the existing development dilemma after expounding the concepts such as "The Town Street" way,street agency and edge street at first. Secondly,from the perspective of the general to the specific,it took Xiyuan Street as the object of case analysis, described a series of problems faced by Xiyuan Street and its administrative agencies after "The Town Street" through their observation,interview and investigation in the practical work. Based on Path dependence,the theory that the selection of the initial system will be a certain inertia,produce path dependence,and the path of the actors as well as the concept of subjective decisions formed thereby plays a key role in the choice of bias,might make the original right direction diametrically opposite results, thus to explore the causes of current dilemma that Xiyuan Street office faced. It is because of the ambiguous orientation of street agencies as well as the impact of various institutional,historical,and other man-made factors made "The Town Street" way incomplete insufficient and ultimately affect the performance,resulting in the current development dilemma. Then it started with the problem,put forward a clear positioning,speed up development,strengthen public services,and other measures, and finally from the particular perspective to the general,considering the measures to break through the dilemma from Xiyuan street equally applicable to other edge streets in small cities.
