The Institute of Hydrogeology and Environmental Geology, Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences(abbreviation: IHEG) founded in 1956, a member of China Geological Survey Bureau, and is the only national public specialized institute in hydrogeology, engineering geology, environmental geology research. As an important member of the public geological survey team, IHEG has carried out a wide range of education and training work and achieved certain results in the process of geological survey team construction. However, with the more attention on the construction of ecological and civilization by the government, and the stressful tasks, there is no perfect system of education and training for professional and technical employee, meanwhile, the statistic works and demand management mechanism relative lag. As a result, the education and training courses, training methods, training content can not fully adapt to the needs of professional and technical positions in the talent team construction. The delay of training work has direct influenced on the development of the professional and technical employee, and then affected the economic construction as well as the key work of IHEG. In 2015, China Geological Survey Bureau introduced the guiding opinions of geological science and technology talent team construction, whose emphasis is to strengthen the efforts in training the talents, and to create a training environment for technical and professional employee.Through the literature analysis method, this paper researched the definition and analyze method of training needs at home and abroad; on the basis of literature review and interviews, a questionnaire designed for IHEG training demand, and reliability test was carried out on the results. On this basis, using sample survey method, the problems and reasons of restricting training works was analyzed. According to the survey results, from seven aspects including the development of innovative training concept, reasonable training objectives, regularly carrying out scientific training needs analysis, innovative training methods, a reasonable set of training content, training management specification, the suggestions and countermeasures for strengthening technical personnel training of IHEG was put forward. The countermeasures and suggestions of this paper can provide the theoretical basis and decision support of the talent training for IHEG and other scientific research institutes.
