Research On Spare Parts Storage Strategy Based On Equipment Point Verification And Repair Mode

Spare parts inventory is very important to the manufacturing enterprises and a necessity to maintain normal production, especially to the continuous producing line. Spare parts stock level is not merely based on the financial factors, but also associated with the maintenance skills adopted. Different maintenance policy contributes to different spare parts stock level. As a popular and useful maintenance policy, diagnosing and overhauling policy has its unique spare parts demand characteristics.In order to lower the spare parts cost (such as purchasing cost, stock cost and consumption cost), we need to study the management policy and figure out what methods should be applied to optimize the management policy. Though applying the correct ordering policy is the critical control activity to lower the cost for a company, other factors shouldn’t be ignored. Spare parts inventory management is a generalized concept, including part classification, demand forecasting, stock management model and information management system, all of which have direct or indirect influence on the spare parts management cost. Furthermore, they are interacted with each other. For example, part classification would affect the ordering policy and stock management, while demand forecasting would affect the ordering policy. So, to study the spare parts management policy based on the diagnosing and overhauling maintenance policy, the first step should be studying the two respectively, and then, to carry out a comprehensive study while considering their characteristics and application, at last, we can get a spare parts management policy for the specified maintenance policy.Therefore, to lower the spare parts management cost by optimizing the management policy, we need to carry out the research and analysis of the five relevant factors mentioned above and figure out a set of spare parts management policy specified for the diagnosing and overhauling maintenance policy.Theoretical research is oriented towards application. It will be more valuable if the study achievements can be used directly in the company spare parts management. Therefore, this paper selects the spare parts management of B company as a case study, analyzing its current problems. Hopefully, integrated with the theoretical research achievements, the best solution can be found for the problems. In addition, some analyzed cases are presented in the paper, making the study more persuasive.Without doubt, it is a long term and hard job to establish a close and effective relationship between academic research and management practice. A lot of work needs to be done in the future. At the end of this paper, a conclusion is made, in which, the deficiency of this paper, as well as some possible further study, are mentioned.
