Land is the most basic vectors of human existence, but also the material basis of human life and production, arable land is an important form of land use. In agricultural production activities,arable land is not only irreplaceable basic means of production, but also an important source of human food and clothing, and protection of the human development life. However, due to such as the increasing population, industrialization and urbanization continues to accelerate, the rapid economic development, the impact of agricultural restructuring and other factors impact, arable land resources reducing has become the general trend of arable land resources change, and their quantity is also further reducing, so the contradictions of people and land become increasingly acute therefrom. From this point of view, researching the change trends of arable land resources and identifying the main drivers factors, these can slow down the declining trend of arable land amount, this researches is in favor of the rational use of land resources and conducive to the protection of arable land between with population growth and the regional economy coordinated development, it also has very important significance for the formulation of policies and regulations of protect arable land. Effective protection and rational utilization of arable land has become a critical and urgent issue related to the food safety and the living standards of Shandong Province, but also a hot research point in the field of sustainable development and economic development strategy at the present stage in Shandong Province.In this paper, the author uses the research results related fields from home and abroad for reference, uses the sustainable development ideas and the theories of arable land resource use as a guide thoughts, uses Shandong province as the research object and the 2003-2012 study period,research methods is qualitative analysis and quantitative reasoning combining Methods. This paper at first describes the status of arable land resources in Shandong Province, including the situation on the quantity and quality, and qualitative analysis the overall trend of the quantity changes of arable land resources from 2003 to2008 and 2009 to 2012 in Shandong Province,then the paper quantitative studies the driving factors affecting the quantity changes of arable land resources in Shandong Province combining with the statistics information and data of social and economic development and mainly using principal component analysis to demonstrate,assisting multiple linear regression analysis, at last, the paper draws the basic characteristics and driving factors of arable land change from 2003 to 2012 in Shandong Province, and propose several measures for effective protecting and rational utilization of arable land.Dissertation research is divided into four parts:The first part introduces background significance of the topic, the theoretical basis as well as the basic situation of the study area,including natural and social-economic conditions.The second part describes the current situation and trend of arable land use change in Shandong Province, analyze the regional differences and changes rate of arable land quantity change, draws a conclusion which the number of cultivated land resources in Shandong Province from 2003 to 2008 and 2009 to 2012 was the declining trend, its regional differences are significant, has a serious shortage in per capital arable land quantity.The third part uses methods combining qualitative and quantitative analysis, at first, the paper qualitative analyze the impact of natural factors and human factors on arable land resources, then it summed up that the level of social development, population growth, economic development is the main driving factors of arable land change in Shandong Province using principal component analysis and multiple linear regression method to demonstrate,The fourth part is a summary of research results. According to the drivers factors of arable land quantity change in Shandong Province, it has put forward the suggestions of effective protection and rational exploitation of arable land, then summarize the full text, identify deficiencies and draw conclusions.
