Automobile industry play a leading role in the upstream and downstream industry chain, after decades’development, China’s automobile industry has become one of the pillar industries in national economy, and plays an important role in the economic growth. In the same time, China’s automobile industry is entering a critical stage of industrial restructuring and structural change in the situation, changes in market structure, the change of product structure, optimization of industrial organization, international trends and the rise of new energy vehicles, have inspired the transformation of China’s automobile industry upgrade. The outbreak of the global financial crisis in 2008 crashed the international automobile markets, also affected the development of the domestic automobile market. How to solve many of the contradictions of the accumulation of the external environment and the internal structure of the automobile industry, promote industrial restructuring and upgrading the benign development of the automobile industry is a real problem in China’s auto industry.Based on the analysis of China’s automobile industry development status and trend of the automobile industry, this paper provides suggestions for the transformation of China’s automobile industry development, automobile consumption stability, structural readjustment, enhancing the capability of independent innovation, industrial upgrading. In this paper, the necessity and possibility of China automobile industry restructuring, China’s auto industry restructuring and development strategy, related policy is studied. It is found that after several decades of development, China’s automobile industry has made vigorous development, but there are still many problems, such as "The market for technology" has not obtained expected effect, energy and environmental protection pressure restrict development, vehicle and parts development is not balanced, the independent innovation faces many challenges, auto service industry is not perfect. In the future, independent innovation and independent brands are the prescription for China’s automobile industry. To solve these problem, this paper suggests that supporting independent innovation, developing its own brand, pushing forward the restructuring of the auto industry, developing new energy vehicles, promoting the export of automotive products, developing modern automotive service industry. Furthermore, the policy such as improving the market competitive environment, building innovation system, strengthening professionals training, fostering independent innovation culture, developing related services is necessary.
