Study On Optimization Of Export Structure Of Chinese Iron And Steel Products

The iron and steel industry is the basic industry of the national economy, and is an important part of a country’s industrial sector. Since 2002 Chinese joining WTO, the steel trade is developing rapidly, promoted the economic of our country and trade growth effectively. At this stage, although China has become " the biggest country of iron and steel", but not" iron and steel powerful country":exports are still concentrated in the advantages of products with low added value, such as wire rod and angle section, large quantities of steel with high technology content still need to import such as board; the proportion of special steel exports in the iron and steel product is still slow, the phenomenon of "special steel product is not special" is more serious. Therefore, in order to enhance the trade competitiveness of iron and steel industry, iron and steel products export structure remains to be further improved.Based on the research of the present situation of China’s steel products’export structure, find the present problems. Estimated the change of China’s steel product’s comparative advantage by the international market share changes, trade competitiveness index. Evaluated the steel export structure changes by Laurence index,structure index and Herfindahl index. The study found that, the advantages of China’s iron and steel products concentrated in a relatively low value-added products, the export market is relatively concentrated, the trade environment remains to be further improved. At the same time, the paper studied the factors which affect the optimization of steel products’ export structure by using the grey correlation method, find the most crucial factor that is technology and human capital. Finally, in order to optimization the export structure of steel products, put forward some suggestions according to the influence factors.
