Research On The Application Of WorldView Image In Yunnan Border Mapping

Due to the limitations of air photogrammetry accessibility in border areas, so high-resolution satellite images for three-dimensional photographic measuring is an effective method to make topographic maps. Yunnan province is located at the west of the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau with long borderlines, which is a difficult area with high altitude and complex terrain in measurement system for topographic mapping. In this paper, we firstly introduced current high resolution mapping satellites and its application in topographic map making both at home and abroad. Then the advantages of high resolution and high accuracy positioning in WorldView satellite was analyzed, which mapping image source has become the perfect measuring choice in border areas. Placement test in border areas is finished for feasibility analysising, in order to explore producing techniques and processes of WorldView satellite image in 3D (DLG、DEM、 DOM) map at the scale of 1:10,000. GPS control surveying in the field with single-point positioning mode was prepared of using aerial triangulation software like PixelGrid or PixelFactory to make the area adjustment with distant ground control. Then we used the photogrammetric workstation like JX4 or Virtuozo for three-dimensional modeling and geomorphological mapping, also DEM and DOM correction is finished for mapping field adjustable surface features, toponyms. vegetations and others, also Geoway software is used for digital editing, DEM producing and 3D product making. Finally, stereo mapping precision was validated using independent data, results show that:the WorldView-2 meet the manufacturing precision at the scale of 1:10,000 or even 1:5,000 in 3D map products. WorldView satellite image provide a mapping exploration, which has important role in the development of the satellite images mapping, also it is useful for topographic mapping in border areas.
