As an important research direction in science visualization, the 3D surface reconstruction technology has played an important role in computer graphics, computer vision, and image processing and so on. In this paper, the target is based on the CT images region of interest image information, and it is carried on the research of 3d surface reconstruction. It is mainly divided into two parts.One part is based on the contours to research the 3d surface, which is through the contours. The other part is based on the point clouds to reconstruct the 3d surface. The specific contents are as follows:(1) The 3d surface reconstruction using the contour lines. In view of the problem of the large number pixels on the contour lines, firstly, the contours are extracted the region of interest of the CT images with the level set method,the feature points in line with the conditions are chosen by the curvature formula; Secondly, the triangles on the adjacent contours are constructed with the improved shortest diagonal method, namely according to the Euclidean distance to choose the shortest distance between the upper and lower contours and then the two points are connected. At the same time, in order not to appear the obtuse triangle when constructed triangles, the two current points are calculated the cosine value, and then the smaller is choosed to connect the triangle, and then the 3d surface is reconstructed. At last, it is verified through the experiments, the experimental result shows that the method can also reconstruct the 3d surface with the partial pixels by the curvature.(2) The 3d surface reconstruction is constructed with the cloud points. In order to extend the applied occasion of the 3d surface reconstruction from contours, the contours of the CT images are extracted.The dimensional coordinate values of each slice image of the contour points in the plane coordinate system are respectively obtained with the curvature, at last, each of z axis coordinates can be used the number of each slice of CT images, it can use point clouds data to be represented. Secondly, the surface is reconstructed with the improved Crust algorithm through the Delaunay triangulations, and it is respectively compared with Marching Cubes, shear-warp, the result are verified that it can meet the application in different situations. The effect of surface reconstruction is clear and greatly, the reconstruction time is also reduced.
