With the gradual promotion and popularization of BIM technology applied in the field of domestic construction engineering, BIM technology is recognized as the best solution to solve the problems of construction industry informatization. However, the degree and level of application of BIM technology in the field of domestic construction engineering is still at primary stage. Thus, how to apply BIM technology, scientifically and orderly, in solving problems of information island, information gap, information asymmetry and so forth is urgent problems that need to be studied and solved. Based on above, this paper chooses the theory of information ecology as a guide and the analysis of project information ecosystem as a breakthrough point, puts forward the model of project information ecosystem based on BIM and its optimization measures, which provides theoretical basis and practical application guide to the popularization and application of BIM and informatization of engineering project management.Firstly, the method of deduction transplantation is used to definite concept, make analysis of systematic characteristics and the elements for the engineering project information ecosystem through making analogies between the concept of information ecology and its related theories, which offer theoretical basis to research the problems of project information ecosystem under the perspective of information ecology.Secondly, standing in the research perspective of information ecology, existing problems of project information ecosystem are analyzed from three elements of information ecosystem: information, information-person and information-environment. And the impact of information, information-person and information-environment of the information ecosystem of engineering project caused by the introduction of BIM are analyzed, which provides theoretical basis to the construction of information ecosystem model of engineering project based on BIM.Thirdly, information-person, information and information-environment are combined,from systematic viewpoint, and the information ecosystem of engineering project based on BIM is constructed through putting forward the concepts, elements and the elements’ relationships of information ecosystem model of engineering project based on BIM. Then,from the perspective of achieving the rationality of the structure, perfectness of system function and relative stability of system state, existing problems of information ecosystem of engineering project based on BIM is analyzed from three aspects of information,information-person and information-environment, and systemic optimization measures areput forward at last.Finally, from the perspectives of information function, information talent structure and information environment, the information ecosystem of BIM of Shanghai Tower is constructed, after that, the correctness and balance of information ecosystem of engineering project based on BIM are verified. Then through summarizing the practical experience and deficiency of empirical research, this paper improve and amend the information ecosystem model of engineering project based on BIM.
