High frequency double drum vibratory roller has a unique suit of configuration which is different from that of traditional model. Because of the capacity for compacting thin surface layer of asphalt pavement and bridges as well as thick layer of high-performance asphalt mixture, high frequency vibratory roller is increasingly becoming a hot spot of the roller market. The study on the influence factors of damping effect is relatively lack in domestic, which results in the fact that the domestic roller has a certain gap in damping effect with foreign similar products, so the research in this paper is of great importance.An experiment on a domestic 14 t high frequency vibratory roller prototype was done. It included the damping system stiffness test, drum vibration character test and damping effect test. By analyzing the test results, the main vibration problems were found and the possible reasons for the problems were put forward.Based on the analysis of the arrangement forms and force conditions of damping system, the reliable working requirement was got. Besides, the nonlinear character of the rubber dumper was researched and the method to identify its stiffness and damping. By establishing a dynamic model, the further study of the influence theory between damping system and vibration parameters, vibration uniformity, as well as vibration transmissibility.To study the influence theory between the frame and damping effect, the rubber ground, rubber damper and frame support web flexible model were established with ANSYS. Then the vibratory drum and frame unit were established with Pro/E and the rigid-flexible coupling ADAMS simulation model was got by using the interactive interface of the three softwares. Finally, the simulation drivers got by testing were applied to the model and the accuracy of the medel was verified by comparing the results of the simulation and test.The virtual prototype simulation model was used to reseach how the web support angle, mass ratio and position affect the damping effect. A better parameter combination to make the frame vibrate small and uniformly was raised, which can guide the manufacturer to design the frame structure and arrange the units on it correctly.
