The bogie frame is one of the most important components in metro vehicle. It not only bears the various static and dynamic loads from the vehicle body and the wheel during the operation of the metro vehicle, but also is used in the installation of other important components. It is the main bearing part of the vehicle and its performance determines the safety and quality of the metro vehicle operation. Therefore it’s necessary to conduct relevant research on the strength and stiffness of the bogie frame.This thesis studies the bogie frame of the Xi’an metro trailer. By using the large-scale finite element analysis software ABAQUS, it conducts simulation calculation of the static strength and modal. The major research work achieved is as follows:According to the CAD drawings of the bogie frame of the Xi’an metro trailer, it builds a three-dimensional geometric model by using a 3D modeling software Solidworks.With the help of ABAQUS software, a finite element model of the bogie frame is built. The main loads on the bogie frame are calculated with reference to the relevant railway standards. The stress results from the strength analysis are obtained by calculating the numerical simulation in various load conditions. It theoretically proves that the static strength of the bogie frame is sufficient, which verifies the reasonability of its structural design.Keeping the other parameters of the bogie frame constant, it alters the cover plate thickness and the web plate thickness of the frame and derives the maximum stress by finite element computation. The variation pattern of the overall bogie frame stress is summarized.Using the above model, it conducts the modal analysis on the bogie frame. The low-frequency modes and shapes, as well as the vibration characteristics of the bogie frame are obtained.The findings of this research provide a theoretical basis for studies on bogie frame design.
