In the process of "going out" strategy and "all the neighbourhood" plan, more and more Chinese infrastructure construction enterprise were going to the world, to participate in the overseas infrastructure construction. This paper was carried out with the supported by theChina Road and Bridge Corporation’sfoundation named the research on the differences in the Specifications for Construction of the PRC, the US and the EU. With the specifications widely read, the differences of methods to pile foundation, soil retaining structure and foundation treatmentdesign were regard as breakthrough points of geotechnical engineering design standard of the PRC, the US and the EU. The differences were compared by reading specification text and calculating engineering case, special focus on the pile foundation bearing capacity calculation, the soil pressure calculation and stability analysis of soil retaining structure, and the design calculation of sand stone pile. The main contents are as follows:1. The construction specifications of the PRC, the US and the EU were introduced. There were differences about normative structure in the scope, independence, integrity, references, etc. However, the vast majority ofDetails were similar in the PRC, the US and the EU specifications. There were still some differences in the theory, calculation model andparameteron the local scale.2. The comparisons were carried out in the specifications of the PRC, the US and the EU, about pile foundation design and calculation, especially concerning on the vertical bearing capacity of the pile foundation, and it pointed out that the differences of vertical bearing capacity were mainly composed of different subentry coefficient retrieval, different common survey and test and different parameters.Considering cases, the quantitative relations were built among the pile’s bearing capacity calculated by the static load test, static cone penetration test, pressuremeter test, and rock uniaxial compression test in different specifications.3. The comparisons were carried out in the specifications of the PRC, the US and the EU about retaining structure, especially contrasting in the earth pressure calculation, resistance to sliding stability checking, resistive overturning stability checking, and foundation bearing capacity checking, etc.4. The comparisons were carried out in the specifications of the PRC, the US and the EU about ground treatment, such as dynamic compaction, consolidation, and sand stone pile. The differences of sand stone pile were researched with case in the specifications of the PRC, the US and the EU, respectively about the performance of foundation treatment.
