Paver is a widely used road construction machinery. The performance of the cooling system of the paver not only affects the overall working conditions, but also affects energy consumption. The heat balance performance of paver is an important indicator to measure the effect of paver cooling system. Conducting vehicle heat balance test on paver, can effectively test the heat balance performance of paver. It can provide data for the solution of engine overheating and reference for the matching calculation and optimization of cooling system. The experimental subject of the thesis is RP95 X paver. Firstly, a vehicle heat balance diagnostic test is conducted on RP95 X paver, and the problem existing in the paver cooling system is identified. Further, the heat balance tests on subsystem bench are conducted to find out the specific problem existing in the cooling system. The performance of water cooling radiator, oil cooling radiator and intercooler is analyzed. According to the test results, factors affecting heat dissipation of radiators are discussed. The functional relationship between water resistance and water flow in water cooling radiator, oil resistance and oil flow in oil cooling radiator, and wind resistance and wind speed in all radiators, are established.Based on the results of the heat balance tests on subsystem bench, the simulation in the condition of inlet air temperature of 45oC which can’t be reached in bench test is carried out. The specific reason for the poor performance of the paver cooling system is determined according to the simulation results. In the conditions that the flow is 260L/min, the inlet temperature is 95oC, the air volume is 23500m3/h, and the inlet air temperature is 45oC, each subsystem of the cooling system meets the evaluation criteria of paver heat balance test, but the vehicle does not meet the evaluation criteria of heat balance in the actual working condition. The perimeter sealed state of the radiator and the control of air intake grid are improved. A vehicle heat balance test of the paver after the improvement is conducted. The test verifies the effectiveness of the improvement measures. The test results show that the heat dissipation performance of the paver cooling system is improved significantly and the indicators meet the design requirements of paver cooling system. The satisfactory results are achieved.
