The Research Of Architectural Historical Data In The Annals Of Guangdong

Since Chinese ancient architecture was wood-based, with less retained objects, ancient books has become an important way for us to explore the ancient architectural style. The Annals of Guangdong is one of the representative local chorography since the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It is important reference material for the study of the resources and people in Guangdong Province. The same is true for the ancient buildings.This paper uses philological methods, sorting and comparing building information which was record in several of The Annals of Guangdong. Meanwhile, illustrates some architectural issues reflected in the book, contenting with fieldwork, for example the changes in the classification and the basic construction of ancient buildings. Finally, stress the importance of The Annals of Guangdong for the architectural history research. This article is divided into two parts.The first part is the second and third chapters, by combing the literature to form. First, this article sort out historical buildings data in the Annals of Guangdong. Then, points out the characteristic of building information in multiple versions of Annals, by comparison to guide subsequent researcher to finding information.The second part is the fourth and fifth chapters, by analyzing literature content to form. This article proposes some historical architectural phenomenon, such as the changes in the classification and the basic construction of ancient buildings. At the same time, combined with the specific case, it describes how to find relevant information of building in the Annals of Guangdong to help our architectural history study.
