In recent years, the automobile industry of China has made a big progress of development. With the improvement of people’s living standard and the increasing material needs, the car has become a part of the essential in daily life. With the wide application of electronic information technology, electronic control system is widely used on cars. But it will record the fault information within car’s electronic control system only. And it can not notify to users timely. Now some vehicle enterprises have applied the mobile communication network to cars. It makes more safety for daily use. Some products are ready in the market. For example: G-book from Toyota and OnStar from GM.It is necessary to develop the intelligent vehicle communication system which is suitable for the majority of the car owners. If the car has something wrong,the intelligent vehicle communication system will send SMS or make voice call automatically to alarm some departments including repair center, Traffic Administration Bureau,hospital,insurance company and others. So that both car and people can get rescue at the first time. Also it can reduce the casualties and property losses.This paper introduces the application situation of intelligent communication network at home and abroad on the vehicals. GPS and GPRS wireless communication technology are also introduced. Base on company’s investigation result and considering the cost, the target product will cover the large market with low price and high quality. Intel baseband chipset X-GOLD, RFMD RF amplifier RF7118 and TI GPS chipset GPS5350 are selected for HW development. This system will check the sleep status and monitor current consumption. To avoid empty the car battery,it will disconnect power supply if short circuit happened on hardware.To monitor car status,the interrupt circuit will sample SRS break signal,anti-theft system abnormal signal and engine abnormal signal to X-GOLD.And then report the information to service center via GPRS. Software is developed with Linux operation system.Finally,all malfunction messages or voice call are send out to car owner,repair center, Traffic Administration Bureau,first aid,insurance company through insurance company’s SMS service center.Compare with current intelligent system in the market,the product developed with this paper is more timely and effectively to avoid vehicle theft, drunk driving and hit and run.
