Hollow slab girder bridges, which have many advantages such as simple structure, definite stressing, light self-weight, economical material using, convenient construction and mass factory concentrated prefabrication etc., are applied widely in medium and small-span bridges. However, in recent years, with the high-speed development of our country’s economic and transportation, diseases appear generally in in-service hollow slab girder bridges under the influence of many unfavorable factors. The emergence of diseases in hollow slab girder bridges not only severely affects the driving comfort and safety, but also reduces bearing capacity and durability of bridge structure. Therefore, it should be tested and researched for hollow slab girder bridges about the diseases.This dissertation takes the test of bridge project in one city as the research background. Combine field investigation results of the hollow slab girder bridges about the state detection and load test, the paper specifically analyzes the effects of the hollow slab girder bridges induced by typical diseases. In this dissertation, the main contents and results are as follows:(1) Diseases investigation of in-service hollow slab girder bridges shows that because of the inherent defects in design and construction links, combined with the factors of constantly increased traffic and vehicle load, material own characteristics and natural environment, the phenomenon of bottom longitudinal crack and hinge joints damage in hollow slab girder bridges is quite prominent and typical.(2) Diseases investigation of in-service hollow slab girder bridges, general characteristics of the typical diseases in hollow slab girder bridges were summarized and concluded, and then cause mechanism of the typical diseases was analyzed in-deepth and elaborated in details from the design, construction, operation and some other aspects.(3) Applied the general powerful finite element analysis software Midas FEA to establish the simulated finite element model of typical hollow slab girder bridges and carried out force analysis. Researching on the transverse load distribution calculating methods of the slab girder bridges. Combined with the hollow slab girder bridge’s lossy finite element models, analyzed the typical disease’ impacts on hollow slab girder bridge structure’s mechanical behaviors. In addition, analyzing and probing into several influencing factors of the mechanical behaviors of hollow slab girder bridges.(4) Several prevention and treatment measures aiming at the typical diseases were put forward from the design and construction aspects. Different maintenance and reinforcement methods for the hollow slab girder bridges, which were summarized in this paper, were compared and conclude. According to the basic principles of bridge reinforcement, the economical, practical and effective reinforcement method for the typical diseases in in-service hollow slab girder bridges were proposed. At last, made further detailed arguments over the construction technology and process of maintenance and reinforcement for the typical diseases.
